Any info on stats needed from NoVa kids to gain admission? |
Nothing, unless a private school is using attendance there in marketing materials without disclosing that it in, in fact, community college and not somewhere you can get a bachelors degree. |
They can transfer |
Not necessarily. And it's definitely quasi-unethical. |
Hope Scholarships will pay a significant amount of tuition, so most people in Georgia take advantage of that program. No need to go out of state, which is what the state of Georgia wants to happen. It think UGA is fine. This is just how things are done in Georgia. |
The OP did not say that UGA's overall acceptance rate is 85% - and it's not, it's 40%. OP said that "upward of 75% of graduated students" at her kids private school went to UGA. What this says is that the kids at that private school are high achievers, as you would expect at a presumably expensive and selective private high school. I don't know why you would interpret it to mean that UGA is a community college.

Id say at least 8 plus AP or IB track, 4.2+ gpa and mid 1400 sat, but many I know in that range were waitlisted this year. |
Same with mine. Comes home 3 times a year at breaks only. Never at a loss for things to do and lots of Georgia friends who are in town on the weekends. |
Many for sure would be happy at a school that had so many get into UGA in the Atlanta area, great school and free! Win/win for sure! Lots of instate kids choose UGA over other top oos public and private schools, not only for price but they have been brought going to Athens from birth and that’s the only place they want to go. It’s not all just about perceived prestige or rankings for them. |
What does this mean? |
UGA football fan families. Parents are often both alums, too. |
Sounds terribly insular and uninteresting. |
Maybe to you, but not to them. |
+1 |
People around here (like you) are too uptight, nerdy & boring for that. |
