| I can’t believe this forum is so consistently vile towards your neighbors. Not just calling people short but frumpy, ugly, and dumb. Why are you living here if you hate everyone here so much? |
| Shorter people are smarter since they were more likely to use their brains in their profession rather than their bodies. DC is full of smart people. |
Because this entire region consists of keeping up with the Jones’s and always one-upping the next person. People will go into a million dollars of debt here easily just to show off. It’s bizarre. |
I think this is a NoVA thing. I don’t see this at all living in DC proper. |
Yeah, same here. I'd love to see some data on the median height of white people in DC vs. other major cities. At this point it's all rampant speculation. I'm 5'11", FWIW. And a man, I should add. |
+1 But add Chevy Chase/Bethesda. A lot of these DC generalizations are from people in the burbs. I don't see this in DC proper and I REALLY don't see it compared to where I am from (NYC). Also I do not think people in NYC are taller than here. |

OP, what’s your source? You posting this as a fact does not make it one.
And of course, all the PPs are the only tall and handsome/beautiful people in DC, right? Since everyone here is short and dumpy, that would include you, too. |
| What are your numbers on people in DC who are Black, Asian, Latino, OP? |
Racist bigot. |
| As a tall white woman, I find there are more tall white women in the greater DC area than any place.i have ever lived. |
| Yes! This is the first thing I noticed when moving to Dc area for work. Everyone is short. From the south where everyone is tall. |
| Who cares. Height is overrated. Lotta tall CEOs and politicians have done fantastic jobs ruining the country and world. |
No way - have you been to salt lake or Denver or Minneapolis? |
This made me
|
| The far Northern US cities like Minneapolis, Milwaukee, maybe Chicago, and the states like North Dakota and others in the prairies have tended to draw immigrants from Northern European countries, who are genetically taller on average. I don’t think the DC area got a lot of this type of immigration; I was under the impression that most (of course not all) white people here came up from the South or were long time (early 1800s or revolutionary war or earlier) immigrants from the British Isles. |
