You should research just how “extensive” police training is, particularly as compared to the “average idiots” who frequently take far more and more advanced training than police and even hold instructor credentials. Anybody who thinks police are firearm experts has never looked at the ratio of shots fired versus hits made by police (what happens to all the misses? Hmm.), or watched police fumble with and mishandle firearms other than the one they are issued, trying to clear them. |
Before pontificating in what other people should do, you might look into the actual training DC requires; it and the live fire qualification must be repeated with every renewal. |
Wow, people who as a group have a huge number of negligent discharges, engage in sketchy and downright bad shootings, lean toward unbelievable brutality, and get to carry their guns and high capacity magazines for the rest of their lives as some sort of new samurai class disfavor anybody else getting a share of the one life distinction they can claim! Color me shocked. |
Good. It should be that way across all states though. For any gun ownership, period. |
Yes, police also need to be held accountable. But the point was that the PP who claimed police want more citizens carrying guns is dead wrong. |
I've been a cop for over 20 yrs, so I think I have a pretty good idea about LE training lol. You might take "advanced" training, but it is an extremely small minority of gun owners who are actually proficient in terms of marksmanship, tactics, judgement, etc. I went to a public gun range a couple years ago and what I saw just blew my mind. |
Citation? You obviously don't know any police officers. |
| Anyone that thinks it would be a good idea for any old bloke with a gun to shoot it out with a suicidal criminal in public is freakin insane. This is real life, not Hollywood. The carnage and chaos would make any of these mass shooting far worse. |
