If you are a law abiding citizen, get yourself a gun. But no, the data dods NOT support that expanded lax gun laws improve things, statistically speaking. Unless you're a John Lott conspiracy theorist, in which case you're kinda useless to argue with, as conspiracy theorists don't change their mind no matter what. Good luck. |

John Lott isn’t a conspiracy theorist, he’s just another academic with a political axe to grind who interprets ambiguous data in his preferred way. There are a million of these types on the left.
I agree that the evidence on concealed carry reducing crime is highly inconclusive- there’s basically no reason to conclude that more concealed carry would reduce crime. However, the evidence that more and better funded police reduces crime is rock solid - as strong as it gets in the social sciences. The left denialism about this evidence and efforts to move urban areas away from this powerful and effective way to reduce crime are creating pressures for more gun ownership. Nice job. |

Written by a gun owner. If you want expanded concealed carry then ALSO require ongoing training rather than just the basic course in DC. However, unfortunately not all states require any class even and that is egregious. Too many people think they would be fine because they stay up late playing Call of Duty. |
+1 Most cops are pro 2A because they look at gun ownership through the lense of someone who has very extensive training relative to your average idiot. If you want to carry a gun around town, you should be proficient in its use. |
They already have guns and know that law abiding citizens do not. It’s why there are so many carjackings. If taxpayers could legally carry, carjackers would think twice, which would protect non-gun owners like me. |
I'm confused by your post. You can carry concealed with a permit in DC so go forth if you want. That being said, I believe ALL gun ownership should come with federal required training including passing a basic test (required in some states so is constitutional with 2a) But in the US, where any idiot can own a gun and most states don't even require basic training, idiots who think they are Rambo (I hope that's not you?) and aren't properly trained aren't necessarily helping and may potentially hurt an innocent person through misperception of a situation, hurt an innocent bystander, or get shot yourself when police confuse you with the perp. Read the article posted above and get back to us. If you get a gun though, be responsible and ensure you undergo ongoing training and shooting practice before you're some sad idiot in the news who shoots somebody who knocks on your door. |
That’s basically Chevy Chase and Bethesda now. Silver Spring has long past that point. |
| Can you imagine what the DMV would be like if everyone could carry all the time? It would be the wild west and someone would be getting shot on the metro daily and on the beltway daily. |
Yes |
Most cops are obviously in favor of guns for trained law enforcement officers but are in favor of STRICTER gun controls for the public. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/16/politics/police-organizations-gun-control/index.html |

I’m a conservative and 2A absolutist but I don’t own or carry a weapon because I’m smart enough to know it’s a bad idea to increase my kids’ exposure to weapons and the risk of an accidental or self-inflicted shooting.
The more likely risks just aren’t worth the more remote risks. |

That's not what the article says. Why would you lie about what the article says? |
The people that want to shoot already carry illegal. They know that no one else does and we are easy targets. I’d like them to at least think twice before carjacking. |
