What I do know is that the military actually says it has a huge problem with right wing militants in the actual military and veterans and that they do not prosecute most crimes that come to their ears either dismissing the event all together or discharging individuals without a criminal hearing. I wll trust the military that this is an actual large issue that needs addressing. They also have access to weapons that can be turned against civilians. Having a lot of American support Russia over the US is a problem and there do not seem to be enough controls on classified material.

The military is basically going to have to undergo an ideological purge.

I agree. Get rid of Milley and Austin and get DEI out of the military.
Rot stops at the top.

The rot is republicans.

The military is overwhelmingly republican. Any head is just a figurehead for the organization. These problems are coming from the enlisted. They need to police themselves and take politics out of the mix.

It is illegal to work with official elements of a foreign government on national security matters while a USG employee or military service member. Conflict of interest? It would also need to be approved by Ethics, particularly as she was trying to get paid from her social media advocacy.

It is also illegal for any American to provide material support to Russia, given the sanctions. She was fundraising money for the war!

Is it known if she worked with the Russian government though?

If you survey the think-tank scene in DC, there are enough distinguished academics advocating not necessarily a pro-Russian point of view, but definitely pro-negotiation, anti-weapons aid, and anti-American hegemony.

Are those think-tank members active military?

Isn't she in trouble simply for distributing classified documents even if not directly to the Russians? I know she has committed fraud with her advertising to helping those in Russia, but once you distribute classified documents, it's very hard to keep them from getting into the wrong hands which is why we need more protections.

They aren't, as far as I know.

It's a philosophical question whether active members of the military are allowed to have political views that differ from mainstream America, and fundraise to that effect.

It’s far more than a philosophical question. Candidates can’t have military in uniform in political advertising.

America is not at war with Russia. What law is being violated? America has sanctions on lots of countries, though not to this level.
I would find it surprising if you cannot help all these countries.

Having political views is one thing. Running a pro-Russian propaganda campaign and distributing classified materials is something else.

PP just explained it. Doesn't matter whether or not we are at war with Russia. Learn something.
