I would say Wesleyan is perceived as more prestigious.

I would not say that. Hamilton is a tough admit, well endowed and need-blind, and very well respected.

All this can be true and Wesleyan can still be perceived as more prestigious.

Wesleyan is great. Enjoy

Don’t understand people saying Wes is more prestigious. High school students and their parents that I know definitely think Hamilton is more prestigious.

I think it depends on age and geographic place of origin. I’m 49 and from Massachusetts and back when J applied, Wesleyan was leagues ahead of Hamilton. I take it that has changed.

I think the question was meant for 2023.

In any case, go with best fit but he aware of the difference between need blind and need aware unless you are full pay and don't need to be concerned. Hamilton is richer and in a position to be more generous with the aid calculation if the family requires some assistance.

You think everyone has the same opinion as your friends? It’s a big world.

Undoubtedly Wesleyan is still the better school in prestige, academic reputation and alumni strength. Hamilton is still a somewhat regional, upstate NY college - although very good.

I went to Hamilton and was very disappointed with the experience. Small, cold, isolated….although some may like that…

Nobody except current applicants and their parents is that invested or cares. I grew up thinking of Wesleyan as a Williams peer and Hamilton as more like Trinity. But I wouldn’t factor that into decision making now.

A lot has changed. Wes has fallen, Ham has risen, Trinity has fallen - though Williams reigns supreme
