Not the PP, but just as a normal parent, I think probably bringing back physical books is a better idea than using electronic devices so extensively at school. Here, by "physical book", I mean subject text books. Also, as an independent voter with young children, I am feed up with promoting ideology in public schools. |
It’s common to leave subs plans that involve the computer. I do it all the time. It’s quick to plan for and requires less prep and photocopying. |
Books are not coming back, it’s not happening. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but technology is the future. |
Hi, this is the FCPS board. We are not talking about Chrome Books, we're talking about iPads that FCPS kindergarteners LEAVE AT SCHOOL. Okay bye |
|
Half the people on here aren't even in FPCS, the other half don't have kindergarteners.
They keep the iPads at school. They don't use them very much. - Mom of FCPS kindergartener who gets the light speed report every week. |
It is also very bad for their eyes. I predict that we are going to see a rash of early cataracts down the road for the covid kid generation. |
This somehow depends on teachers. |
Funds could be better used elsewhere. Did they consult K teachers? |
Of course not. FCPS never consulta teachers in these decisions. |
I’m a K teacher in FCPS who posted above and desires a screen free kindergarten. We are supposed to get 60min/week on Lexia. ST math optional but encouraged. I hate using them. There are always log in issues and many kids don’t want to do Lexia so it’s just a battle with some. I choose one or two times a week (15 min) where we use Lexia. I don’t use them in language arts or math rotations. That is screen free time. |
You're not a K teacher in FCPS. Obviously. |
She said "was", you commented 'you're not". No problem |
This wasn't a "sub plan." It was their normal, daily routine that I was trying to stick to while there (for a week). It was an absurd amount of screen time. |
|
Plans that the teacher left for you, a sub, to follow are indeed “sub plans.” Even if theh follow her normal routine. It’s still a plan for a sub. Duh! |
