Drag Queen Story Hours

Right?

Haven’t been to one but have taken my kid to a gay bar where they had drag singers. It’s good for them to see people that aren’t like them. Get out of their bubble and have an open mind..

Would you be ok if your child asked your husband to dress up and put make up next time they want a bed time story. I’m sorry but it is weird.

Please stop with your utter stupidity. I’m embarrassed for you.

Ok. I’m the stupid one. Got it. Keep having your kid groomed.

Grooming? Yeah, that seems to be the job of ministers, youth pastors and other religious types. Drag queens? Not so much.

My kid loves them. Completely enthralled with the performer every time.

If you’re so concerned about the welfare of children, why aren’t you over posting in the Religion forum or protesting at a church?

Not sure I see the fun of having to escort my kid through a parasol patrol hiding protesters and a police presence. I can find many other things to do with my kid on a weekend. Like to go a bookstore and read to them myself.

No one has ever been able to explain the *value* of drag queen story hour. Ever.

I don’t think OP ever said anything about supporting religion or churches. You are deflecting to try and support your position.

Well trained? Where exactly is that happening?

This. A drag performer isn't a great story teller simply by virtue of over-the-top costumes and makeup - which all detract from the story to begin with.

As has been explained to you many times, the value added is the same as any other children’s performer, like the costumed princess i hired to sing at my daughter’s birthday.

Have you ever been to a drag show? It’s much more than makeup and costumes. They’re performers.

I’d also add that all of the uproar about them also provides an opportunity to discuss why people would want to prevent drag queens from performing with my child who loves them. Educating kids about hate and bigotry is definitely important. I wish I didn’t have to, but here’s the world

The question was when did drag queens become socially acceptable to read books. Disney princesses have been around forever and there is a whole theme park based on it. Are you going to allow your child to dress as his/her favorite drag queen for Halloween?

Do you also take them to KKK and Proud Boy events to educate them on hate? If not, then you are a hypocrite.

Nope and never will. Not my thing. When exactly did they become performers?
