Murdaugh Murders-southern scandal: Netflix

Anonymous
Doesn't the snapchat video that Paul took minutes before the shooting debunk the theory that Alex didn't expect him to be there?

There was a weird murder love triangle in Herndon last week, for example, and that's not making national headlines.

Is it bc Murdaugh is some big name attorney in the south...i had never heard if him until now.

I’ll try to break it down for you.

1) rich teen kills girl in drunken boat crash (covered up)
2) rich teen and mom murdered
3) dad says he was almost murdered in side of road later
4) oops dad made up story about attempted murder of him. Hired drifter/druggie straight out of central casting.
5) we discover dad was stealing millions from his prominent law firm.
6) we discover dad stole millions from not just his clients but several injured/disabled clients
All this leads to review is the fact that:
7) housekeeper who was “like family” died under mysterious circumstances
8) dad stole millions from housekeepers kids who lived in a trailer and were evicted after her death.
9) you gay man was murdered on the road, again mysterious circumstances possible link to one living brother.
10) cops “overlook/bungle” all of the above because the family is so powerful.
Add in
11) a dog named Bubba and a nameless but heroic chicken.
12) People named Buster, Handsome (not handsome), Paw Paw, Mags, Poppa T, Ro Ro etc….
13) finally, dad (who is a lawyer) decides to take the stand in his trial and it is televised.

The fact that I’m not sure if I left anything out should give you an indication of why this is garnering so much attention. You might not want to see a guy set himself on fire accidentally on purpose but if he does, you’re gonna slow down and take a look. It’s rare for one person at this level to make such a complete mess of their pretty darn good life. The disappointment is that we have yet to see a mistress or moonshine. It also kind of validates everything that northerners secretly think these small, Southern towns are like.

Bubba and the nameless but heroic chicken 😆. Indeed, if not for that chicken, he would have gotten away with his original story. Unfortunately I think he’s probably convinced at least one juror that it’s possible he’s innocent of the murders.

Breakdown above is awesome! There are also the connections to drug rings and organized crime. And the fact that Alex’s former boss was initially in charge of the murder investigation. And that Alex’s daddy and granddaddy essentially ran the county for 100 years.

The documentary said the wife had recently hired a forensic accountant and was talking to divorced lawyers. She either knew or was close to knowing that he had bilked his clients and law firm out of millions. I think it’s possible that he didn’t expect Paul to be there and wasn’t planning on killing him. He was a drug addict, financially ruined and about to be socially ruined when everyone found out about his embezzlement. He was desperate and desperate people do crazy things.

I’m not convinced the family had anything to do with Gloria, the housekeeper’s death.

I think Gloria's death may be the reason for the wife and son being murdered. Have you listened to the 911 the wife made? She didn't sound right. I believe Alex said he wasn't there but then when interviewed by police said he was and said Gloria told him the dogs tripped her. I'm trying to find the details but he had just upped the insurance on the place or something the month before she fell and died. He needed money desperately at that time. The wife and son may have known he did it.

So was Alex there when Gloria died or not? We know she had found his stash of pills.

OMG see I forgot that he's claiming Oxy addiction where he took 60 a day which from my understanding is both incompatible with life, with pooping and with being a 'functional' addict! There is just so damn much going on here.

Sadly, I am not surprised. A friend of mine was involved in a different Netflix documentary and said she and the other witnesses were very unhappy with how things were handled.

So why are you assuming he did it? The prosecution has no direct evidence.

The fact that you are willing to condemn an entire family you never met based on a Netflix documentary and Mandy matney’s biased “reporting” doesn’t show very good critical thinking skills.

Alex is clearly a bad apple. But that doesn’t mean the whole family is awful. A lot of people in Hampton county, black and white, poor and rich, will tell you many other people in the family did a lot of good for the county and were good people.

Stop making assumptions based on a sensationalist documentary. And the people extrapolating this to the entire south are being ridiculous. Is everyone in Italy a horrible person because some people are in the mafia?

You sound delusional. Family guns were used. He used the alibi of not being at the property to go visit his mom, which was unusual, not to mention she has dementia and would definitely have been in bed that late at night. But then the video they found on Paul’s phone puts him at the scene minutes before they were killed. It was a large property where his wife was reportedly not living anymore. He had asked her to meet her there and she had told family/friends that she thought that was odd. So you think he invited her there, Paul was there (he also didn’t live there) and somehow someone unrelated to the family knew that and went there to kill them in the minutes Alex just so happen to go see his mom who was likely already in bed? And not only did they show up, but they showed up without guns and had to go find the family guns first and then kill them?

THIS. I'm not convinced a jury will convict him, but in my mind, there is no doubt about his guilt. I think there's a slight possibility he hired a hitman, but I don't see how anyone else could have committed these murders given the details of the case.

Was he at Moselle when Gloria was killed?

A hitperson would likely not use the family guns. And if so then Alex needs his money back.

He was not. That said, I don't think she was killed. I do think it was possible that she didn't get the medical care she needed and I do think Alex made up the dog story so he could sue himself for her death.

Why did he tell the police that Gloria told him personally that the dogs tripped her. His wife sounded like she didn't care at all in the 911 call.
