This is what I want to know too. I have a wonderfully comfortable traditional mattress w/box spring in the guest room which I would love to replicate, but it seems like the hybrids are all that are available now.

Go with Stearns and Foster - they have traditional box spring and quality - it is expensive but at least you can try it and then buy.

Saavta has a showroom in DC but I found that their firm (which is the firmest they have) still to be too soft. They are not cheap. I think I would go with Stearns and Foster Ultra Firm vs Saavta Firm

Does Urban Mattress have different brands?

Macy's always has the best mattresses in my opinion. Even though there are supposedly better mattress companies like Avocado in Georgetown and others. Once you pick out the one you like from their store, consider the job done. Don't waste any more time on it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. See above. We spent a small fortune and within a year replaced it. No to Macy’s. Scammy on mattresses. PSA over.

Sounds like you made a bad choice. We bought our mattress from Macy's 10 years ago, it's near the end of its life but it's still very comfortable. We're hoping the same or a similar model is still available.

Don't buy an internet mattress, they are all going to breakdown in 5 years. We've tried multiples, they last 3-5 years. Nest, Casper, and Leesa over the past 12 years. They've all cratered.

Tried it at Mattress Firm and it felt great in the store. We’ve had it set up at home for four days and it is like a big, sloppy, mushy marshmallow - totally different than the one we tried in store. I am so pi$$ed off because now we have to keep it for 30 days before we can start the return process.

Are traditional mattresses a thing of the past? I’m very reluctant to try another hybrid because they seem to be all the same, regardless of brand. We don’t want to sink into our mattress, we want to lie on top of it and feel supported. I feel very misled by Mattress Firm, considering the floor model was nice and firm and the one we got is anything but.

Interesting. We have this mattress and love it! It’s not too firm, not too soft. Sounds like maybe you got a lemon? Hope whatever you replace it with works out better.

PP here. So yours didn't turn out to be like quicksand? We liked the one we tried in the store, but this has got to be a different model. I was checking out their return process and apparently it's not a full refund, as others will provide. You still have to pay a restocking fee.

Anyone have thoughts on the Purple Premiere Rejuvinate? Hoping to replace our mattress pronto, as it deteriorated into a soupy mess (14 yo, so probably fair). We liked this Purple when we tested it on the floor of a local store, but never heard of them so I am hesitant.

So, reviving this threat. TIA!

Okay...so you can send it back within a year, but will they refund the full purchase price ? The shipping ?

I need a super FIRM mattress.

Any recommendations ?

Has anyone tried Plank ?

We were disappointed with our Saatva. Mushier than expected. Lots of sinkage. Anyone try the new high-end Purple?

Super firm needer - go lie on them in the store. I just got back from a mattress store and it was surprising how easy it was to feel the difference. So hard to tell online.

It was really helpful to have the chance to lie on them without having them shipped to your house. We had a Purple mattress and I hated it. We went through several mattresses before going with Winkbed.

Check out Sleepare if you're old-school people and too nervous to commit to a mattress you haven't tried!

I could have written the same thing, except that we didn't come from Purple.
