Mattress Shopping- Help!

Anonymous
Time to buy a new mattress. It's been a while since we've done this, and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the newer options - Purple, Avocado, Helix etc..., or should we go classic Stearns & Foster or Sealy?

We want medium-firm to firm. This is for our guest room, and even though it won't be used more than a few times a year we still want a comfortable bed in there.

Suggestions?

The foam mattresses are all just layers of foam glued together. I don’t think which brand matters very much. They’re all fine so whichever one you like best. Spring mattresses are also fine. The rise of the foam mattresses is just about a market opportunity to bypass mattress stores, which people don’t like for a lot of good reasons, by shipping them in boxes and making new brands.

So don’t make yourself crazy trying to figure out the “best” mattress because they’re probably all the same/fine.

For a guest room, I would get a foam bc it’s easier for shopping and they are usually lighter weight, so it’s easy to make up the bed. My kids have tuft and needle mattresses that have held up well. Honestly, our ikea mattresses on our guest bed are also pretty comfy.

Costco nova foam. We have this and everyone loves it. Come in a box, no smell and more on the firm side.

Tuft & Needle or Casper. We have both in guest rooms in our main house and other homes. We just moved the Casper into our room as we decided we liked it so much.

Love them both.

We did try Nector but found it broke down very quickly. For us I would not buy that one again.

Love the box ones.

We went to Urban Mattress. Nice selection, but on the pricier side.

I did a lot of research the last time I was looking to buy a mattress and decided on a latex mattress from SleepEZ: https://sleepez.com It's great! And the one we bought can have different levels of firmness on each side of the bed which is great for two people.

Saatva. Always Saatva. Amazing and you gave a year to try it and send it back if you don’t like it.
