You mean corporate price gouging? Focusing on that right?

Whatever you want to call it - inflation has literally been rising since March 2021. Gas prices since May 2021. The supply chain in crisis since June 2021. Food prices unaffordable since October 2021.

The White House's message that whole time and into 2022? We need subsidized daycare or democracy dies! Well something died tonight alright.

You use right wing talking points.

No, that's DCUM at its finest. Tell me if Democracy was at stake all of 2021 and 2022 - why was the platform solely focused on paying for non-voting babies? You sunk your own ship.

Yes, of course. But it’s so much more than a saving of democracy. To vote straight Democratic in this particular election is saving the American character of fairness, decency, and justice. People who say “the soul of our country” is at stake are not exaggerating.

I guess Guam didn’t read that thread.

Apparently neither did VA where half of DCUM is based because they're trending red too.

We did this to ourselves and it's going to be more awful than we can imagine.

Yeah. Turns out, the average Joe does not like inflation, or having his toddlers masked, or gender ideology pushed on his teens. Amazing, isn't it?

But feels perfectly free to tell women what they can do with their bodies.

Agreed. Wait until all these unwanted zygotes are littering the country, and my tax dollars have to pay for them and their mothers for 18 years. It is like be in many bad marriages with bad pre-nups.

Republicans yesterday - ignore the 45m people who voted 50-39 Dem in the early vote. None of that means anything.

Republicans today - based on three hours of Election Day vote of 27,000 people in state xxx it's clear we've won both the Senate and House.

I find this so frustrating. I'm old - well into my 50s - and have decades of healthy political debate in my past. I also think a balance of power is helpful. Just like we don't think it's healthy to engage in an echo chamber here on DCUM, neither should anyone think it's healthy in government. When did politics become a full contact sport, winner take all, fight to the death? My god, when we did we decide our way was the only way and all others be damed. We are a sick society. We are governed by hate.

Cool. Is Rachel Maddow going to cry again?

Yes, and if any Rs lose, it's illegal and we'll sue. And maybe have another go at the Capitol building...

Moderate Dem here - the progressives were boasting like this all the way through the night in 2016 when HRC's staffers started crying in Javitts and again in 2021 when the entire VA leadership went red. Wake up. We've been telling you.

DP. I'm a former conservative and Nate Silver called it for Trump early in the evening.

Today, a lot of people are calling a lot of things - but not everyone in good faith.

Disappointing for sure. But rest assured Dems are not going to lead a violent insurrection based on a big lie of fraud, get officers killed, and poop in capitol buildings. We're not Republicans after all, thank god.

It's definitely too early to make any real predictions (currently 5:10 pm EST), BUT....

Red precinct after red precinct in counties like Culpeper, Spotsylvania, and Greene are reporting near presidential level turnout. #VA7

Looks like Roe wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be for the Dems.

Great but Silver was one of the pollsters calling the election for HRC until the last day. Same here. Same with McAuliffe and Youngkin.
