This. It’s a conservative town when it comes to style. There is a woman at my child’s school who dresses in designer cloths I’ve just seen on the glossy pages of Harpers and W. DC women are overall more attractive than the men (saying this as a woman who imported a man from out of state). It is an outdated joke, though: 25 years ago, I was 20-something, and everyone said: DC is Hollywood for nerds. "Everyone" was people who don't even live here anymore.

Guys from the midwest said DC girls were skinnier. They also said the over-30s looked "hard." There were all kinds of things said, but I would put my PTA moms up against any state, hahaha.

Hahaha yes! Our PTA is so so good, and the women are amazing and look great. Some are moms in (excellent jeans and fleece jackets, others are in lawyer power suits, but all of them confident and positive and actually kind. I’m not even that involved but it’s still so good to see these successful DC role models around our kids.

To be fair the dads are good people too, and most of them look just fine.

Zooey Deschanel is...a Hollywood actress. So yes, she is more attractive and stylish than your average DC woman. And 99.9% of all women

So true. If you think DC women aren't attractive, you should hit the Hearst pool in the summer and see the PTA moms

ZD is a hollywood actress and her style is total hollywood hipster, which still involves getting a lot of work done and a lot of maintenance.

I see DC women as very insecure. The wear what I call a catholic school uniform. Having a designer handbag or shoes is also part of the uniform.

Nah, i disagree with this. I lived there for 10 years. ALot of people in miami are poor and dress like crap. Lots of young women who work at a mall kiosk and go out a lot and they still think wearing a cheap shein dress 1 size too small looks good. In the professional classes, the admin are all from lower social classes and often do the same thing - wear too tight stuff because they think it makes them look good. It's fashion 101 not to wear stuff too small. And all the other women in the office dress way more traditional and frumpy - my theory has always been to differentiate themselves from the admin class.

Most of the people living and working on miami beach look pretty normal.

There are definitely women who get all teh plastic surgery - but they're not who you're seeing day to day.

I have lived in other parts of Florida and i think the average person in other parts of florida look better than the average person in miami.

I just moved from Miami, and I disagree. Women and men are so much better looking. It sounds like you have a thing against admin. In Miami they take pride in their appearance. Hair, clothing, everything. I felt so frumpy. My ob-gyn office while I was pregnant was full of gorgeous women.
