Are peanut butter chips nut-free?

Surely you know that PeaNUT butter contains nuts, right?

I know there is a lot of [s]arcasm going on, but just for those people that don't really know, peanuts are not nuts. They are legumes (like peas and beans).

Peanut and tree nut allergies are separate allergies. Sometimes they overlap, but frequently they do not.

Technically you are correct. However, considering the prevalence and potential seriousness of peanut allergies, peanuts are typically the first thing excluded from food options and common usage is that “nuts” is a broader category encompassing both tree nuts and peanuts.

A lot of kids don't like oatmeal. Or raisins in their cookies. I would avoid.

Surprisingly Chex Mix was a hit at a bake sale I organized once. People liked things they could throw in their kids lunch the next day. Or eat for breakfast like breads and muffins. There were way too many chocolate chip cookies so if you want yours to stand out, do something different. Chocolate anything is always popular.

This is so true - my kids are always psyched for the home made chex mix!

+1

I love oatmeal raisin, but it’s not popular with kids. Once my kids and I got to take home. They each selected chocolate chip and I chose oatmeal raisin. They had theirs while I was otherwise busy and it wasn’t until they were in bed that I had a chance to enjoy my treat. Except - when I pulled the last cookie from the bag it wasn’t the oatmeal raisin I’d been looking forward to, but chocolate chip. The next day my daughter told me she had thought her “chocolate chip” cookie had tasted weird.

In the bustle of a busy bake sale, you’re probably better off going with chocolate chip (or some other easily identifiable flavor) and avoid oatmeal raisin/craisin cookies for cookies that will sell better and not confuse kids with “weird” tasting chocolate chips.

This sounds great but how would you package it for a bake sale?

they can, but i think the defining element is the butterscotch chips, not peanut butter.

Another great one that is easy to make and is very popular: Seven Layer Bars.

You cut it into squares or break it into pieces. Package like any bar cookie.

As the mom of a kid allergic to peanuts but not tree nuts, the bolded.

Please don’t be so pedantic that you send in something with peanuts after “no nuts” were requested, protesting, “but they’re leguuuuumes!”

Don’t do that.

Something like this: https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/brownie-cookies/

As easy as chocolate chip cookies, tastes like a brownie (and you don't have to cut them)

1/2 butterscotch chip. 1/2 chocolate chip
