Easy bake sale cookies?

Anonymous
Our school is having a bake sale and my 10yo is dying to make cookies by herself. Typically we do chocolate chip, which is reasonably uncomplicated and most everyone likes, but it's also what everyone else seems to bring. Any suggestions for a quick and easy cookie that's a little different but still appealing to a pretty wide audience? Must also be nut-free.

Rice Krispy treats are not a cookie, but the easiest dessert to make. They are also nut free and gluten free.

so many schools are nut free, don't use PB chips. Use white chocolate instead

Easy cake mix cookies- pick a cake mix you like (e.g. red velvet) and add any additions (e.g. white chips).

1 box cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup add-ins

Bake at 350 9-10 min.

OP said no nuts, but your post made me wonder about the other PPs idea of Rice Krispy Treats. They’re a perennial bake sale favorite but has anyone ever seen a chocolate version? How would that work? Cocoa Krispies? Chocolate Chips? Cocoa Powder? Altering the classic recipe might be unworkable, but tge possibilities are intriguing.

Make chocolate chip ones, but put in M&M's or mini-M&M's instead.

I also sometimes make Chocolate chip cookies, but put them into mini-muffin pans, and when done, I take out the pan, put a thumbprint in the cookie and put a Hershey's kiss in the thumbprint. The heat of the cookie melts the kiss just enough to melt the bottom layer and then when it cools and hardens, the kiss will stick.

Thumbprint jelly cookies (https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a56358/easy-jam-thumbprint-cookies/) are also easy and fun for kids to make. They like putting thumbprints into the cookies.

Sugar cookies with icing and rainbow sprinkles are easy and fun for kids, too.

+1. This recipe is consistent and easy. Works well with devils food cake mix and chocolate chips for an easy double chocolate chip cookie.

Yep, if you want to be fancy you can dip the blocks in chocolate and add some sprinkles.

Scotcheroos! make them and and any Midwest-to-DMV transplants in the area will swoon.

Another good midwestern option is little bags of puppy chow made with sunbutter
