Why do some women ruin their looks with tattoos?

Anonymous
Because they like them. I do not like them, which is why I do not have any. But I am not everybody.

Ok, grandma.

Maybe this is news to you, but some women and girls don't care about looking "pretty."

Cool > pretty

I do not like tattoos. I assume that those who get tattoos in today's world are insecure about their looks and just want something to draw attention to themselves.

Unlike fashion or trendy clothes, the problem with tattoos is that they are permanent.

I do agree with the OP that women ruin their natural beauty and looks with tattoos.

Usually it's women who aren't conventionally pretty in the first place, who decide to get tattoos in really visible places--but that's just been my experience.

I don't have tattoos, because I don't want something permanent like that, but I do color my hair unnatural colors because it keeps the creeps away in my public facing job. Found this little technique via my fellow professionals and it works like a charm to keep the guys away. I'm happily married so don't want the attention.

Would imagine some women get the tattoos because they like them, one of my friends likes the attention they get her, and others may want to eliminate a certain demographic from hitting on her. Every woman has her own reasons.

Maybe she’s trying to appeal to a certain guy but IMO tattoos are almost never a positive on a woman, at best it’s something you can put up with but it never enhances someone’s looks. It’s an inherently masculine look.

Oh hello person who thinks women’s value is in their attractiveness.

I think it depends on the individual woman and her style. I think randomly placed tattoos look hideous. If the artwork is done well and placed appropriately, I think it is attractive. For example women who are into certain music scenes like punk, usually look attractive. Even as the age.

However, I have noticed a trend amongst young hipsters of just placing random tattoos on carious parts of their body. I think that looms stupid.

Then there are ratios that go with certain cultures. The Maori come to mind. I think they look beautiful

One or two meaningful tattoos are one thing, but when you have a full sleeve or your entire neck is covered in ink, casual observers can’t make out any of the details and it’s just a jumble. That’s not attractive to me, but if you like cluttered images, live it up and get all the tattoos you can afford and can fit on your body.

My brother believes tattoos are an example of prison culture going mainstream as a consequence of our high incarceration rates.

In my experience, people who feel entitled to an opinion on my tattoo (or my hair, or my clothes, or my makeup) have control issues. Like if you are walking around looking at people and thinking "if they would just do what I want them to do with their bodies, they would look more pleasing to me" then you're already in a weird headspace.

If someone is not attracted to my tattoo, that is okay too. I am not attracted to everyone either! Funny how that works.

Preach!

+1 All of this 👏🏻🙏🏻

So tacky!

Thigh tattoos are the worst. Thighs rarely stay the same size throughout one's life.

I just hate the way tattoos look on a bride. There is no way that isn't trashy. And lets be real, the majoirty of professional ofifce jobs, frown on a bunch of visible tatoos

I don’t judge other people’s preferences regarding appearance.

Pp you are being ageist. There are lots of Grandmas out with tattoos. You are judging the op for their viewpoint and yet you are judging older women
