Coastal Carolina. That's it. That's the list.

OP, what kind of stats does your student have? People here are suggesting Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, etc. but those can be tough to get in to.

OP I think you need to give us some sense of the kids stats and interests (as far as potential major) before anyone can really give you that info. 10K students is not a normal number, but Penn State is massive so im surprised it was too big. Some bigger schools do not "feel" that big, because they have a more cohesive, closer in campus like UVA or UNC.

Miami Ohio and Delaware each have 20,000+ students

W&M and the schools in the MAC - Mid-America Confrernce ...are probably the closest to fit the bill.

Op again: thanks for the suggestions, had forgotten about Syracuse and Wakeforest. She thought about Miami of Ohio so maybe. We toured Vanderbilt but no one gets in and they give no merit but she loved it. As I was researching there could be a SUNY school that fits her likes. We did tour JMU. Thought campus was big but not student body so it remains on the list. Her stats: 3.8 us, 4.4 w, no SAT scores, officer of class and science honor society, Girl Scout, 3 season athlete, URM, from a Md high school but not MC or PG.

In 2020, Miami Ohio had 16,522 students and Delaware had 18,420, according to US News.

Something that has always bothered me about Miami (OH) is that fraternities are allowed to have "houses" but sororities just have suites in the dorms. I've never even been interested in Greek life, but that double standard is really horrible (and I don't understand why it hasn't been legally challenged?)

Miami is upfront with their out of state scholarships too. We have had two go there and both loved it.

From my limited understanding: Sororities have off-campus houses just not formally identified on-campus houses. Sororities often don't give parties for safety reasons--and also so they don't have to purchase the same liability insurance. At Miami, I think it's not what is 'allowed' but rather what they have -- the national fraternal organizations are the ones who own the off-campus houses and the fraternity members pay dues to live in them. But I agree it's a weird vibe.

This sounded like BC until you said non-church. I’d consider if I were you. I went and loved it and I am not Catholic and have never been religious.
