+ a million Very well said. |
NP. That you're actually trying to equate the crime in these cities to the off-the-chart crime (MURDER rates) happening in St. Louis, Philly, Baltimore, Detroit, New Orleans, Cleveland, etc. tells us all we need to know. You are not a serious person. |
It isn't the law abiding citizens causing the crime in Philly or any other city. It is the criminals who don't care about the life of others. Get the guns out of the hands of the criminals. Instead of giving them a slap on the wrist when they commit a gun crime, make the sentence harsher. |
No, it’s the republican agenda. Let’s anybody including irresponsible people, untrained people and crazies buy as many guns they want snd carry them all over, and we all be safer. Only thing we are not. One of the states with thr highest rate of gun deaths is Wyoming, Republican bastion, but with tons of weapons |

I was recently in Philly for the first time since pre Covid. It’s a mess. Litter EVERYWHERE. Clouds of pot smoke everywhere. ATVs racing down every street. Junkies wandering around like zombies. I wish I was exaggerating. It was sad to see.
Boston, on the other hand, is clean and unplagued by the issues I saw in Philly. |
Yes, because republicans are the ones raising felony shoplifting to $950 +, or advocating for “violence interruptors” at a cost of millions when 90% of studies show they have no efficacy on crime reduction, or are letting speeders with thousands of dollars of tickets renew their licenses, or are raising the youth rehabilitation act age up to 26, or won’t prosecute qualify of life crimes, or the list goes on. Democrats are relying on a loose take of the word “equity” to essentially water down the criminal justice system to reduce disparate impact at the cost of public safety. I hate that the Supreme Court overturned any sensible gun regulation, and what republicans do in that area, but at least they don’t want to, literally, allow certain crimes or change the definition of crime, oe simply make it easier to commit crimes in the name of “fairness” when it’s anything but and causes city life to suck. So you can yell “guns, guns, guns”, but it’s deeper than that. It’s progressive criminal justice and “reform” that are endangering people as well. |
I was just in Philly yesterday and this was not my experience at all. What part of the city were you in? |
Did you actually research your positions? Did you know that jail is not a good deterrent for crime? Did you know that states and countries that have much fewer guns have less gun violence? Did you know that risk factors include family, economics, and community? Did you know that paying people to cash got them off streets faster? Do you know that several studies show that several restorative justice studies show recidivism is way down when applied? Agree that you should vote for the Dems, even though you blame them. The GOP has always widened the economic gap, which is directly liked to crime. You think it’s bad now, look at Brazil. I also think that lately we can see they’re in to consolidating power and using the police to suit their own needs. That shouldn’t fly with anyone who cites crime as a problem like you do. They also encourage gun ownership, so a deadly mix that will only continue to grow worse. I find it rich that people criticize the Dems trying to find creative ways to solve societal ills. Why don’t you ask the GOP to restrict guns to see if that makes a difference? Why don’t you ask the GOP to ask corporations to pay a living wage and stop giving workers part time shifts so they can avoid paying health care premiums, so those people send up on public assistance? Why don’t you ask them to divert money from our defense budget or corn subsidies to fund educational programs? Get real. |
Dems may be looking for creative ways to fix social problems but the issue is that they don’t work and are worsening the problem. Letting career criminals back out on the street is having the predictable effect of increasing crime. |
You clearly didn’t read my post and are just parroting words fed to you. |
I stopped reading after jail is not a good deterrent for crime. Your position is laughable and anecdotal. |
Then why is Tulsa, OK one of the most dangerous cities in the USA? You just cherry picked a few cities to make your point but skipped over any R cities. In other words, you need to be dishonest on order to try to make a point. The problem is that we can just use google and see how partisan you are. |
Dude has straight swallowed the progressive koolaid. Crime is going up. Your super “compassionate” response to it and endless search for “studies on poverty” are causing major cities to be less safe. Guns are too and their prevalence, but mainly your wishy washy empathy for criminals and perpetrators of crime over victims and tax payers. You will lose votes in November because everyone else can see the emperor has no clothes. The only buoy you’ve got against your insane position on crime is that abortion was outlawed. If it wasn’t you’d be fked six ways from Sunday at the voting booth. You make us all less safe. I say that as a ward 6 resident annoyed at Charles Allen for his weak ways. |
| If progressive politics causes crime to skyrocket as you say, then please explain why Tulsa, OK is one of the most dangerous places in the USA? |
