Philly has descended into complete anarchy under progressive city leadership, especially the far left DA Krasner who refuses to admit his stance on basically prosecuting almost nothing has contributed directly to the lawlessness that is pervasive in Philly. There have been over 1,400 shootings and over 300+ murders in Philly this year, which are the highest numbers in the city's recorded history. It is a humanitarian crisis that progressive criminal justice has made far worse. Absolutely shocking the number of shootings and murders.

| Do you actually care about the people of inner city Philadelphia, OP, but r are you just wanting to score political points? I suspect I know the answer… |
|
I don't understand why the American left isn't strict on crime. Other progressive countries have no trouble with crime.
Oh right. They don't allow guns either. (Sigh) |
| Darwinism |
Given they're the victims, they shouldn't be OK with it either. It's like the victims in DC. Why do they keep electing leaders that look the other way when shootings occur? At this point, who cares what political party the leadership comes from. People just want to be able to walk down the street safely, you know. |
As you can read in the headline: Philly is “awash in guns.” More guns = more gun crime = more deaths. It’s that simple. |
| OP doesn't care, they just want to push an agenda. |
| This is the Democrat agenda. |
| Because Trump is sucking up all the air by refusing to turn top secret documents back to the US government. |
Oh? Then why is rural America also experiencing a spike in homicides? https://relevantmagazine.com/current/nation/its-not-just-cities-violent-crime-in-rural-communities-has-inched-up-too/ |
It's a poor lookout for Democrats if they think that guns are a Republican problem and therefore they're not going to do anything about the murderers. it might be a good idea to push further for gun control, and also crack down on violent crime. I'm not seeing a downside. If someone says "but it will mostly affect poor and Black people", I'd say their poor and black victims would be very happy to see a crackdown, no? |
Is it really that simple? Nothing to do with flailing attempts at progressive criminal justice reform, defunding the police, “compassionate alternatives to incarceration” and other related nonsense? At some point, whether it’s Cali, NY, dc or otherwise, once crime has reached a fever pitch a result of progressive policy, there will be an overcorrection to address the insanity. Obviously no one wants to be wrong. No one wants to admit their methods aren’t working, but realistically we are less safe with progressives and their soft on crime policies. I am socially liberal. I voted for Biden. I live in city. I am just tired of weakness. You’re making my neighborhood in Capitol Hill less safe. People like Charles Allen or Nadeau. It’s the same sht in Philadelphia. You get these new school city council people who have focus groups comprised of sociologists and dei consultants who want to fix the world by endlessly “studying the roots causes of poverty” while implementing “restorative justice” or hiring “violence interruptors” instead of just cracking down and stopping the violence. It’s so annoying we’re in this science experiment stage right now which is so clearly failing. People will get away with what they can and right now they know that with progressives in charge there is now limit to what they can do. Carjackings, puppy stealing at gun point, atv riding all over the streets, and then they’re released right back out without consequence. It’s absurd, and then voters vote for it all over again to look virtuous. |
Krasner was just reelected, FYI |
See that's where you're wrong. Voters may do all kinds of things to seem virtuous - put out signs, post on FB, whatever - but there is privacy in the voting booth. People vote for who and what they want to vote for. In Philly, people have voted for Krasner - twice. You have a voice. Use it to encourage your elected officials to do things how you want. Then vote for who you want. |
Without guns, people cannot kill people as easy as now. DA doesn’t live in the part of the city where all the crimes happen so he is not affected. When not putting youthsinto jail, he saved a lots of young adults from carrying a criminal record. They will mature one day and become productive citizen. |
