It has to be hard, though. Phillip, Elizabeth, Stan...all played by truly extraordinary actors.

Paige was supposed to be annoying. She was being a typical whiny American entitled teen.

Agree - Paige was pitch perfect.

I remember watching scenes between Keri Russell and her and thinking how does she tolerate having to work with this awful kid?

I loved Paige. I only wish she got more screentime! She had one of the most interesting arcs of the show, and she made the internal growth/conflict convincing. Right up to the stunner ending!

Totally agree with this. And where do we think Paige is now?

yeah and I loved the clothes and barrettes etc in season 1 - reminded me of my years in middle school 1980-1983. So accurate, the styling.

Stripping for cash in DC / Dead under a bridge?

Love Keri’s everyday wardrobe of tailored slacks with silk blouses or cowl neck cashmere sweaters paired with heels or boots.

And Philip grew on me. I find him so sexy.

She and her adorable adopted daughter relocated to Rockville.

She was supposed to be compelling to watch on screen. She was not.

An whiny entitled American teen is never compelling to watch. Thought the actress played her well but that the character was grating (and written that way on purpose).

+1

They really need to do a reunion episode set after the fall of the USSR.

No, she’s just a bad actress. She’s on manifest and is so painful to watch. She is again supposed to be an irritating person but a good actor can still make that compelling. There’s another irritating character on that show who is so much fun to watch.

As a Russian speaker who studied the Soviet Union, I really really enjoyed the Russian actors in this show. The Russian was really well done and those actors were all great. And the pieces about the Soviet Union rang really true. The music and clothing were great too.

Two recommendations for people interested:

Kleo — German show on Netflix about a stasi assassin who is double crossed and imprisoned then gets released after the wall comes down and goes in search of revenge. Again, the period stuff is great and it’s a fun watch.

Book — mastering the art of Soviet cooking. A memoir of the writers family across the 20th century. It’s probably the best, most personal story of how people lived in the Soviet Union and how some supported it, some opposed it, some just tried to keep their head down, and why. Really a very under appreciated book. And an easy read with recipes.

YES! I think a reunion episode would be awesome. Maybe set in the mid-2000s so we can see how they all ended up. That would have Elizabeth/Phillip quite elderly.

I’d be interested in watching Kleo based on your comments. How violent is it? The Americans got out of hand at time (really needless violent stuff that, to me, detracted from the story) and I had to stop watching after the necklacing episode. Sex I like a lot though! Does Kleo get out of hand on the graphic violence?
