If you know they are illegal immigrants why haven't they been reported? I, among many, many others, am damn sick and tired of my tax dollars going to support illegal immigrants. I believe that children born in the US should NOT be given automatic citizenship. There is a movement to repeal this law and I sincerely hope that it is retroactive. I was educated at a private boarding school and classes were small and we had almost individual attention from teachers. Today's public schools are overcrowded and teachers are overworked, overwhelmed, and grossly underpaid. The public education system in this country is appalling and some high school graduates are functionally illiterate. If ONLY children of American citizens and legal immigrants were eligible to attend public schools, I wonder if many of these problems wouldn't cease. Every single illegal immigrant came here voluntarily knowing they were breaking US law and they know the consequences. Of course this child was coached. Immigration should act and deport her illegal parent or parents immediately. |

You might end up with bigger social problems like higher crime rates, prostitution rates, underage/paid workers, etc. |
If the child was coached, it was by a hostile person. Why on earth otherwise would she say something to put her family in jeopardy of being deported? |
Oh, goodness, now teachers are underpaid because of illegal immigrants (even though they do pay taxes). |
My bleeding heart for the children in my class ..."my kids".... and the futures they could have here rather than in El Salvador or Honduras outweighs my concern of not being paid enough. Didn't go into teaching to get rich or to not work hard. |
can I please have your autograph? I just love you! |
Boo- hoo.
If you don't like the fact that you pay taxes, and don't get a refund, go home. |
WHY NOT? ![]() so what will the child be when born here? an ET? |
Not agreeing with PP but that might cut down as an enticement to people who risk their lives and freedom to come here to have anchor babies. |
Likely because they are KIDS, innocent kids going to school to get an education! report them?? you must be really pleasant... It is exactly that attitude of "we're better than anyone else and nobody deserves to be among us" that makes so many people abroad dislikes us... you were born here, good for you, others were not and want to come here, good for them. People do the best they can and I don't blame them for wanting a better education and quality of life for their kids. |
there's no "anchor baby", at least until the kid turns 18 yo. |
Wrong. The children who are brought to the USA illegally by their parents do not know that they are breaking the law. And if you are such a stickler for the law, just deal with the fact that children born in the USA are American citizens. Why punish the child for the parent's crime? Put yourself in the shoes of a child who is illegally brought to the US from another country at the age of two or three. Pretty soon, you forget your native language and even your native country. You grow up in American schools, learning American culture, and speaking English only. Then when you make it to high school, you learn that you can't drive, get a part-time job, or go to college like your classmates and friends because your parents broke the law and lied to you. Why punish a child for something he or she had no part in? |
I think it's great that US citizenship is easy - just be born here. (People who aren't have lots of hoops to jump through and for some, decades on waiting lists.) I can think of a number of countries who won't let second generation kids be considered citizens, have expelled families who lived for 50+ years in a country as illegal, despite all born there and knowing the language, and persecution of religious minorities done under the guise that they are not "citizens."
No - in this area the founders did the right thing. Kept it simple. And while an "anchor baby" might get you to a stay here temporarily, depending on the situation, real anchor citizens must be 21 years old to petition for parents or siblings. And, yes, some people do plan that far in advance. They want their kids to have options and the place they admire is this one. |

So all people whose families were here before the passage of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States in 1868, you get to stay. Sure, I'd love to go live in Europe. Not sure the Europeans and the rest of the planet would like to take on about 200 million Americans though. |
I too know quite a few illegal immigrants who pay their taxes every single year. They have a tax ID number and they can still use that even on an expired Visa. They pay, without fail.
Now, are the illegals we are speaking about Hispanic? It is so sad that it has been biased like this. I had a boyfriend from England and him and his friend both overstayed their Visas, worked and NEVER paid taxes. Why do these white Europeans seem to be excluded from these conversations. Because honestly, I know more Europeans not paying taxes than Hispanics. |
