| My 20 year old’s were elevated. Covid. |
| I had this and was told any kind of virus can cause your liver enzymes to elevate, did you mention that you had covid recently? that is far more likely to be the cause than anything else. |
Fatty liver is helped considerably by black coffee. |
I have this too and I don't drink at all. Slightly overweight though. Taking milk Thistle supplement. Also, had elevated iron but, now have started giving blood which I hope will lower it. Working on weight. |
yes, she was the doctor who diagnosed me. |
I drink two cups of black coffee every morning. |
There are two, AST and ALT. 150 is not that high |
There are four. The other two are alkaline phosphatase and GGT. |
| They said typical was 40 |
| Gosh, I am 52 and got my liver enzymes results back couple of weeks ago, elevated first time ever in my life, never a single drink, healthy eater. Was sent for ultrasound, and was horrified by results, enlarged liver and mildly changed echogenicity, implied fatty liver, pending more tests. I did eat tons of fruits during pandemic and was mostly sedentary, but I am not severely overweight and thought liver was my strong side. I do not eat burgers, or chips or any commercial bakery stuff. I do have gall stones but they do not give me any symptoms, normally. I was told to cut carbs a lot (I do eat lots of whole grains/veggies) and lose weight but with gall stones I have to go carefully. I can not imagine what could have happened to me during pandemic that could cause this. |
| PP who takes milk thistle, did your doc say it was Ok? I am just taking dandelion root tea but kind of scared of milk thistle. Is that also a tea? Did you get ultrasound? |
Hi! Yes my doctor recommended the milk thistle. I take two capsules a day but, it has only been a month. I had an ultrasound last year but, not this time. I was going to be on it for a month more than re-check it. They said my liver was functioning but, it is worrisome! |
the heck? Why is this happening to so many people? I am OP - no gallstones, not overweight. |
| PP here who ate too much fruit during past two years. I did some reading and a lot of it implies that eating too much fruit is actually bad since it is too much fructose for the liver to take on, and it makes it into the fat cells. Why on Earth then we are told to eat tons of fruit, if fructose is bad? I took to eating grapes by pound during pandemic, but I thought since they were red/organic, they were good for me. And now fatty liver and there is no cure. If enzymes don,t go down, that means inflammation, then fibrosis, then chirrosis. I watched all those videos on Youtube and I guess I am panicking, but honestly fatty liver was one thing I thought I would not get. |
| My friend had this and has a bile duct illness called cholangitis. He takes meds and is generally fine. |
