Elevated liver enzymes

Anonymous
Got the news from dr last week.
Female, age 56, fit.
Probably have 2 drinks a day. Is that enough to cause the levels to do this?
I am not drinking for three months and then test levels again.
Anyone else? Or what else would cause this?

Yes. That’s a lot of alcohol across a week. But many people can drink that but and be fine. Everyone’s body is different. There are a million reasons for elevated liver enzymes that aren’t related to drinking.

What did the doctor say?

Could be some virus. My young adult daughter had some liver issues last year - swore that she didn't do any drugs or drinking heavily. She did have something that looked like a virus right before that (fever, vomiting) that wasn't covid, and the doctor said it's possible that there was some impact on the liver. She felt fine afterwards and her tests cleared up in a couple of months and were fine since, so we didn't do any follow ups.

Strenuous exercise can cause it.

Fatty love, more than one drink a day, or a virus.

booze x 100%

Doxycyline doubled my kid's liver enzymes in a month. It was prescribed for acne. OP's elevated liver enzymes are most probably alcohol related.

Definitely. Could also be fatty liver.

Yes. And 2 proper size drinks or are you calling a full glass of wine 1 glass when it is almost 3 glasses?
Stop Tylenol as well.
Milk thistle helps support liver health

Are you overweight, op? Excess weight/poor diet can cause fatty liver. If you have are normal weight and have an otherwise healthy lifestyle, fatty liver caused by alcohol can be reversed in a matter of weeks. Good luck on your tests then!

Really? I work out strenuously 1.5 hours 6 days a week and I have never had elevated liver enzymes.

How high? Elevated enzymes are not typically a problem until the are way out of the normal range.

You sound like a bit of a heavy drinker. Two glasses. One serving is 5 oz of wine. My wine glasses hold easily 8 oz. How much are you really having if you measure it out..there is no safe level of alcohol. I used to hear women shouldn't have more than one small glass a day BC of breast cancer risk. Now I hear zero. I am a person who used to enjoy a glass of wine a night but as I e gotten older I've cut it to reduce my risks. Whether or not it is Tylenol or a supplement that is making your liver unhappy...the bottom line is your liver us unhappy and you should ditch all booze, and also sugars, imo

dr first said could be tylenol (I don't take that) or multivitamin (I take sporatically) so alcohol may be the only thing causing it.

I don't take tylenol... or drink wine. think two beers a day or two vodka lemonades.
