Making 15 limited access from the POR bridge down too Leesburg would be the best thing possible. |
Widening Rt. 15 or creating a bypass via Clarke's Gap Rd. means the developers gain a foothold to achieve their ends. You know and I know the developers want nothing more than to develop Western Loudoun, filling it with cheap Ryan Homes type developments. At the same time, commuters still have to contend with the abrupt end of 4 lanes at the POR bridge. Traffic will still back up clear down to Leesburg a year or two after the road is widened. This has happened over and over and over again. Ad nauseum. The only workable, reasonable solution is to build roundabouts. Do any of you remember the crazy backups on Rt. 50 at the intersection with Rt. 15, at Gilbert's Corner? Those backups are a thing of the past. Traffic flows smoothly during rush hours. Maryland will need to get rid of the light at the intersection of Rt. 15 and Rt. 28, and place a roundabout there as well, in order for this to work. Why are certain people insisting on widening Rt. 15? It's a self defeating proposition if your intent is to facilitate traffic flow. |
| This is so far away from DC, it is hard to fathom why it is relevant in this forum. |
I mean, if it's not relevant or of interest to you, why enter this thread? It's relevant to the people who live here, and plenty of us commute to D.C. or work remotely for a company based in the area. |

The “developers getting a foothold in Loudon” horse has already left the barn. LOL.
Loudon is one of the fastest growing jurisdictions in the DMV over the past 5 years. |
| I want true interchanges, not this roundabout crap. We need overpasses, build it to interstate highway quality and let's bypass some towns. |
Big overpasses will change the zoning adjacent to the overpasses. If you want to stymie big box and tract housing development, install the roundabouts. |
I hope this is satire.

West of Leesburg is pretty dang rural. Purcellville is getting to what Leesburg was about 12-15 years ago, though. It'll be the next Leesburg within the next 8 years with the growth happening there. But west of Purcellville? Rural af. Tons of wineries and breweries but that's about it. |

MD doesn't want to play ball to expand the road or current bridge or add another bridge, so all MD drivers using that stretch of road need to pay hefty tolls.
I bet they'd change their attitudes when they had a mob of angry constituents. |
Why would you assume that? |
Expanding the bridge at Point of Rocks in inevitable. The rate of growth of Frederick will demand it and Frederick County is not filled with the Montgomery County NIMBYs who knee jerk oppose any infrastructure improvements so the people and the county government will demand it as well. |
Are you assuming widening 15 is the answer? |
Frederick is absolutely filled with refugees from Montgomery County. Go into the Wegmans sometime and tell me it's not full of Montgomery County people. |
I like the idea of hefty tolls. The traffic is ridiculous, and MD isn't doing anything to address it. |
