It is better that you stay where you are. Your children could not compete with the Loudoun demographic. |
So true. Moco GDP growth from 2017-2020 = -1% Fairfax GDP growth 207-2020 = 12% Fairfax GDP 34% larger than MoCo. |
It's the Amazon effect. Since White Flint Mall was not selected as HQ2, they are so sad. Wait until NIH relocates to Loudoun County -- that will be very difficult for them. |
Because racism. When I moved to Nova in the 80s, coworkers would make remarks that always seemed to imply Md was where black people lived even though many of my coworkers commuted from there. |
I'm sorry you were raised in a racist household, that sure is tough to get out of your head, try and do better with your kids. Maryland has real people with character, VA is cookiecutter and if you want to live where everyone is like you and you feel extra safe please stay in VA. That VA sprawl seems like hell to some of us, where it feels like a secure blanket to others. |
They can use the bandwidth on DCUM to rant, but it won't get them anything else of discernible value. |
LOL. Wow you Loudoun people are immature. But for the record, my kids are in Columbia University and doing comp at UMD which is one of the best programs in the country. Keep worrying that your kid won’t get into William and Mary. |
+1. Seems like two Loudon/Fairfax boosters, and one of them is an agent trying to drum up business. Too bad their hostility and immaturity repel more than they attract. |
| I don't understand why people get so weird about the NOVA vs. MD stuff. There are objectively nice areas (and less nice areas) in both. (And in DC for that matter!). I grew up in MOCO and currently live in Arlington. I'd happily live in either area but Arlington just works for us right now. |
+100. Shoddy new construction, cookie-cutter developments, long commutes on the highway to anything interesting—Loudoun booster can keep it. (And let’s be clear. I wouldn’t be trashing Loudoun if he didn’t routinely trash MoCo on every thread where he can slip it in.) |
I agree, Arlington is nice. The animosity seems to be driven by the angry, insecure Loudoun/Fairfax booster, who trashes MoCo on every thread where he has a remote chance of slipping it in. Maybe also the VA right-winger for whom taxes are the one and only criteria for choosing where to live. Then of course MoCo retaliates, because we’re sick of this pair. |
|
We lived in Arlington for decades before moving into the city as empty nesters. Arlington is a great place to raise a family and we're glad we did it there, but once the kids are gone like every other suburb it becomes a big yawn. I'd never live in the 'burbs without kids.
Having said that, I do think that the VA suburbs are "better" than the MD ones. Economically they appear to be doing much, much better. You always hear of big companies relocating from somewhere else to NOVA -- how often do you hear that about MD? |
Nice try, but we know it’s the foolish Maryland booster complaining about the lack of “soul” as if that’s going to compensate for economic stagnation, declining schools, and middle-income flight. |
| Western Prince William county - highest prices in VA. |
Almost never. Why would they? |
