Anyone else prefer luxury water instead of carrying around a Camelbak/Hydro Flask?

There's a special place in hell for people who drink bottled water

I agree. There are SO many reusable water bottles out there, and we’re lucky to have safe, clean water in most places in this country. Anyone who still regularly drinks bottled water just doesn’t give two craps about the environment.

But I rarely buy it. I use a glass ... over and over again ... or a hydroflask. It's not rocket science.

You carry a cumbersome glass bottle everywhere? How many oz?

You wash them. Get a fancy filter for your sink at home. Wasting 4 plastic water bottles a day is gross. If you want “luxury” then get a nice mineral water, like Topo Chico or Gerolsteiner.

I assume the cheaper crumbly plastics on the cheap brands are far more likely to leech into the water. The bottles Fiji and Evian use are much more substantial.

You assume wrong. Please educate yourself. Single use plastic is terrible for your health and the environment. And anything sold at Costco, CVS or any major discount store is not even remotely in a "luxury" category. LOL.

Heck, you can buy both at WalMart. That's the clarion bell for a luxury brand, all right.

Agree, plastic water bottles are bought and used on a daily basis by poors. Well off people use reusable containers for faily use.

Jesus, how heavy do you think a bottle is? You're just determined to justify your wasteful habit, aren't you?

I keep a water bottle at work, and a small one in my bag. This is really not hard.

Ironic you mention yuppy fav Topo Chico from Mexico, which is owned by Coca Cola, and some articles on google suggest they had or have PFAS issues at the source?

Uh, the "poors" can't afford to spend $2 or more on a glass of water. IME, plastic water bottles are bought by stupid people with disposable income.

Most sane people agree with you. Using plastic water bottles every once in awhile (a picnic, a party) is acceptable. Every day? You are a gross downmarket mouth-breather who hates the planet.

Small as in 500mL? I found the S’well bottles when full are surprisingly heavy. And again, bacteria concerns.

My husband is a hospital administrator and we have a lot of MD friends. I see cases of bottled water in literally all of their homes.

Celebrities are frequently photographed buying cases of big Fiji bottles. And any academic and professional conference I’ve ever been at featured a lot of complimentary 500mL bottles peppered everywhere.

Yes, many sparkling waters have PFAS, but that doesn't mean they are worse than bottled water. The FDA doesn't regulate bottled water like carbonated water (which is treated as "soda), unless it makes claims about the source of the water (like Topo Chico). So they aren't testing bottled water like they are carbonated water.

Topo Chico did drastically reduce the levels of PFAS in its water, and says they will continue to do so. Coca-Cola also supports regulatory limits on PFAS. That said, those chemicals are everywhere (including in food) because they are in the environment.
