Married women with children made up 56% of abortions

What’s going to happen now? Can these states afford all the sick and special needs babies?

Yep. We are UMC and have three kids. Had an oops pregnancy a couple of years ago. Terminated early because we emphatically did not want a fourth child. We could probably afford a fourth if we stretch thin, but I don't want to stretch thin. And I emphatically do not want to go through pregnancy, babyhood, sleepless nights etc. again. No regrets whatsoever.

We also have three embryos on ice that are scheduled for "compassionate disposal" or whatever they call it.

Perhaps you could consider donating your embryos to another family. Many families who can't conceive for whatever reason but can carry can embryo to term look for embryos to adopt. Give them a chance at life and help another family.

I would never allow that. They should birth their own, not outsource to others.

I do not believe that for one second!!

DP. According to a NYT article (no paywall on this one) which is based on CDC data,:

Six in 10 women who have abortions are already mothers, and half of them have two or more children, according to 2019 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “One of the main reasons people report wanting to have an abortion is so they can be a better parent to the kids they already have,” Professor Upadhyay said.

Can we at least deal with facts and not beliefs or feelings when we are talking about statistics?

This quote says nothing about marital status.

I know a single mom who had one (maybe two, but not more than that) abortions after the first and only child because she knew that she was barely making it mentally, financially and emotionally with the one she already had. He’s fully grown now and doing well.

No reason to believe that married women don’t make the same decision for the same reason. Thankfully I’ve never had one slip by the goalie. I’m looking for grandkids I’m the next 5 or so years and am done having babies myself.

Yes. And often it is their husbands/partners insisting on the abortion. Femicide at the hands of enraged men will increase.
Black women are especially likely to be murdered during pregnancy and within a year of giving birth. The statistics are frightening.

You are disgusting. Truly.
What makes you think you have the right to access another’s genetic code.
This is probably what will end up happening by force though in our “democracy” as they start banning birth control and then they will come after embryos. Only the white ones tho- according to trump

I’ve been reading miscarriage stories and this comes up often.

I have no idea what you are saying here.
A) there is no “pro-abortion” group
B) pro choice doesn’t have a narrative about the “types”
Of people who need abortions. It’s is an advocacy for choice.
That’s it.

I’m sorry. I meant anti-abortion.

Dp- it’s backed up by studies.

I was a volunteer clinic escort for 2 years. After that I worked in the front desk area for another 3 years. The media and GOP wants you to believe that abortions are being sought out by teens and promiscuous young women, but it simply was not the case.

At our clinic, an overwhelming number of abortions were obtained by married, 30-and-40-something women who already had a kid or a few kids. We heard the same stories over and over "My kids are teens. I cannot be pregnant again." "I can't believe I was so careless. My first pregnancy almost killed me and I can't go through that again." "My marriage is just getting back on good footing again. A new baby will destroy it all." And of course, "I don't want another kid. I'm happy with what I have."

And guess what? We even had several women seek out abortions who had previously been out front protesting with their church group and who would be back out there protesting again later that same week. You don't say anything ever. You don't make judgement. And why? Because it (was) their right to choose even if they loudly voiced against it to other women walking in.

I was there for 5 years total and to be frank, I don't even think I saw a dozen teen abortions in all those years. I never saw any under 18, that I'm certain of. Teen abortions were almost always 18-19 year olds and tied to post-rape.

Also, any woman who has had a D&C or even suffered a miscarriage will tell you that no, women aren't using incredibly painful and invasive procedures as birth control. It's just not happening.

Thank you for your post and for your service to women. Your perspective is really valuable in shedding light on the reasons women get abortions.

Wait, so now it's about genetic code and not about forcing women through pregnancy? I knew it was all lies.

They will be birthing these children. And embryos/fetuses are molded biologically and even genetically by their interaction with the woman carrying them, so this would most definitely become their children.

And yet they use it for sex selection. Stop making women out to be saints. They will use abortion for whatever they want and you have no grounds to reject, no matter how vile the reason. Irony of all you calling out femicide when sex selected abortions is one of main reasons why place like china is missing an entire generation of women.

I would not hesitate on this. God only knows what ratchet stuff the GOP can get up between now and November.
