Nothing worked for me.

I’m due in 2 weeks! They want to induce me if I go past due to age so at 39 weeks I’m starting the following things that have worked for others I’ve known:
- membrane sweep (some did it three times, although it doesn’t work for all)
- pumping
- sex
- curb walking

I did everything. I had planned on home water births for both my kids.

But I went 42 +2 with my first

and

42+3 with my 2nd.

I finally said "C section. Now." To both.

Both were under 8 pounds.

As a mom who had her last at 43, I would push back on this, if it's only for age. My ob was willing to let me go to 41 weeks with monitoring. Baby came right at 39 weeks, which was my earliest ever!

I had a membrane sweep at 38 weeks and my baby was born less than 24 hours later.

With my 1st and 2nd I walked at least 5 miles the days that I went into labor.

Yup this.

Per the advice of my acupuncturist, I also talked out loud to the baby.
“I’m ready for you. You have a clean bed, clothes, and I wiped out the fridge. I bought you diapers yesterday!”

It was very cathartic, and my acupuncturist said that the baby will not come until it knows and feels that you are completely ready. I was surprised when I was walking and talking how much I let go of any of my internal worries. It is one of my fondest memories, walking and walking for miles and miles talking to my precious baby.

It’s an excellent time for deep communication with baby. I’m glad you were able to process and connect this way. I recommend it to my prenatal patients as well. The baby has its own way of being born and knowing you are ready can ease things.

The baby is vining no matter what…but this really does help you both prepare for the birth journey.

It’s always so funny when people swear their method brought on the baby. The baby was going to come anyway. It was a coincidence. You were a full term pregnant woman.

This is so stupid.

+1 That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

My 2nd kid came in the middle of a move, on top of a stressful job situation and some family issues going on...none of this "baby will not come until it knows and feels you are completely ready" mumbo-jumbo.

If you're trying to avoid a repeat c-section, I can't imagine trying to go into labor early is going to further that goal. You might make yourself uncomfortable, maybe give yourself the sh**s, but baby will come when the baby and cervix are ready and not before.

+1. 7 pounds isn't exactly a big baby.

+2. I was ready way before 41w when I finally had to get induced and had a traumatic induction and emergency c. Sometimes your body and your baby do not, in fact, know what's best

DP here and agree it wouldn’t have worked for me. But it helped the original poster cope and so was not dumb at all for her.
