38 weeks on Monday. How to bring on baby?

Anonymous
My baby "measured" 9 lbs on the sonogram and was born at just shy of 7 lbs.

If you're trying to avoid a repeat c-section, I can't imagine trying to go into labor early is going to further that goal. You might make yourself uncomfortable, maybe give yourself the sh**s, but baby will come when the baby and cervix are ready and not before.

Take excellent care of yourself, rest, sleep, walk, stretch, hydrate, orgasm.

Walk - Walk - Walk

With my 1st and 2nd I walked at least 5 miles the days that I went into labor.

Don't rush this. You have the go ahead because it's viable and a healthy weight, but if it's not coming yet it's because he/she needs more time.

I'm really surprised OP's OB gave her the go ahead.

Sex works but is somewhat awkward as a husband at that stage.

Yes. Also, weight measurements can be off. Give it another week. Start trying at 39 if you want.

OP: just to clarify I’m not trying to have the baby early, I’m just trying to prep my body so I do go into labor naturally and can avoid a c section. As long as it happens before 6/27 I’m happy.

nothing worked for me but trying everything listed (except castor oil) at least made me feel less impatient.

Presumably because nothing she’s looking to do is actually going to induce labor before the baby is ready. There are things you can do to help ready your body but they’re not going to make you spontaneously go into early labor.

Dates and walking. Hydrate. Sleep in the daytime. Prenatal yoga.

Nipple stimulation can bring on labor.

Yup this.

Per the advice of my acupuncturist, I also talked out loud to the baby.
“I’m ready for you. You have a clean bed, clothes, and I wiped out the fridge. I bought you diapers yesterday!”

It was very cathartic, and my acupuncturist said that the baby will not come until it knows and feels that you are completely ready. I was surprised when I was walking and talking how much I let go of any of my internal worries. It is one of my fondest memories, walking and walking for miles and miles talking to my precious baby.

Good luck. Both of mine were 41 weeks. You could have another month to go.

This is so stupid.
