| Wait a few years after the quotas kick in. |
| It always baffling me to read comments from people who really wish and can't hardly wait that something so bad happens to other, especially to innocent students. I have 2 kids still in lower grade, they are smart, but I don't think they will accepted to TJ, but the kid who made it there is always amaze me, I am proud of them and to the school as that is the school in the area where I live, regardless of the old system or new system admission. |
As long as they're not getting what they want, the Coalition folks will do absolutely everything within their power to destroy the school. |
It will be 2027 or 2028 before there will be rankings based on how the Class of 2025 at TJ performed. That assumes these rankings are still coming out. It’s depressing to think anyone would drag this obsession over who goes to TJ out for another 5-6 years just to score some rhetorical points. |
As if that wasn’t the motivation of the likes of Ricardy Anderson, Karen Keys Gamarra, and Karen Corbett Sanders? They weren’t getting enough seats to suit their liking so they blew up TJ so they’d have more bacon to bring home to their constituents. And Scott Brabrand was a colossal failure as Superintendent who played along because he was foolish enough to think it would improve his standing with School Board members, who then didn’t waste a second before they threw him under a bus. |
| To those who think Niche ranking is better, you are wrong! |
"If I lost, the world go down with me" |
No. Destroying the school wasn't their motivation. Ensuring that every strong student in Fairfax County and the rest of the catchment areas feels as though they have access to TJ was. Ensuring that exceptional Black and Hispanic students who were admitted didn't leave because they didn't see anyone else who looked like them at Freshmen Preview was. |
Who would think that? Everyone knows that Niche is based on parent reviews only. |
They did a public service by making it harder for people to game admission with expensive outside prep and hoard opportunities meant for all residents. People were literally buying access to the admission exam. It was a serious problem. |
Which is precisely why it's garbage. |
Nonsense. And you agitators will just keep redefining who meets of the definition of a “strong student” until you get the geographic and race-based quotas that you’re seeking to advance your political agenda. The role of TJ was to nurture the strongest STEM talent in the region, regardless of race and ethnicity, not to ensure that students of any particular race see a specific number of peers who “look like me.” You traffic in cliches with no understanding of their long-term implications. This is keeping the Jews out Harvard 2.0. |
That has not been the case for some time. |
yeah, no. The difference is that keeping the Jews out of Harvard was about keeping a population OUT of a given school. TJ reform is about inviting populations IN to create a MORE inclusive environment. And this is why people like Asra Nomani make such jokes of themselves when they start talking about the new TJ admissions process as some sort of "Massive Resistance 2.0". It's idiotic and offensive, and yet people keep eating it up because grievance politics are effective in this day and age. She keeps parlaying this trash into more and more appearances on Fox News and other right-wing affiliates that are also talking about an attempt to overthrow the government as legitimate political discourse and sees trans individuals as groomers. You're aligning yourself with the darkest forces at play in American politics and history is not going to look fondly on those who submit. |
He was pandering for political points. |
