Poor Asians from eastern Fairfax have a much better chance of getting in now. The ones who used the $4,000 test prep centers probably are getting the shaft, but that's not because they are Asian.

The poor Asians from Effx are the same poor Asians from western ffx who moved to get a better shot in the racist system. No difference in prepping.

Meh, TJ is now just an admission that some of the high schools in FCPS suck so much that it’s considered unfair not to let at least few dozen kids avoid Annandale, Lewis, Justice, and Mount Vernon.

There are brilliant students who live in those areas. Not every family can afford to live in McLean or aspire to.

I have not been following this topic, but am interested in what the court is ruling on. Can someone point me to a thread with a plain language explanation of the admissions change? Thank you!

Yeah, they are so brilliant that they needed “experience factors” to get them into TJ, lol.

You are conflating brilliance with privilege.

The prep center kids are so brilliant they need to spend $4,000 to prep for the test. Lol.

Such an unbiased source. Kudos for presenting such a fair point of view.

Do you think that if we had an equally highly regarded arts and humanities magnet in the western part of the county, it would take some of the pressure off of TJ?

Clearly not and probably why so many more poor Asians did better with the new system, but C4TJ is unsatisfied with just 50%+ of the program seats and feels they deserve more.
