I'm really sorry OP- are you exploring different childcare arrangements for the future? Sometimes a second infection can be even worse so I'd start making plans now. It seems like daycares should be back at reduced capacity and fulltime masking at least. |
Why yes, let's cripple the child care sector while adults hang out unmasked at restaurants, bars and parties. It makes perfect sense since young children can't get vaccinated and ...are STILL at lower risk of getting infected, hospitalized or dying from COVID compared with a vaccinated and boosted adult |
You are wrong. A second infection has been proven to be less severe for millions of people. It was part of why they thought Omicron was less severe - because so many had already been exposed to covid. Honestly we need to stop with the paranoia and falsehoods like PPs. This isn't April 2020 anymore. No need to shut down over the sniffles. |
Have you read the OP's post? Her kid is really sick. Kids are not immune to Covid. Are you more concerned about a business or kids' health? |
She also said he/she just got it, but is somehow deathly ill immediately? OP is not trustworthy |
And kids can get it from adults who are MORE, not less likely to get sick, so if we are going to take away child care from families (by reducing capacityand making it impossible for many providers to continue operating) we had better shut down restaurants and bars and prohibit people from gathering. Oh, is that not convenient for you? Don't you care about the children? |
PP is a time traveler from 2020. Not happening |
I know two people right now who have mild cold/flu symptoms with covid. I know one who had it last month and ended up in the ER struggling to breathe. |
"My child is sick so a bunch of people need to lose their jobs and children can no longer play with each other" |
I mean, when OP is telling everyone to be "careful", what do they mean exactly? Daycare comes with a risk if getting Covid, just like in-person school, work, and other activities. What would they have done differently? |
There is no data that supports this statement. Please stop. |
Hi. This is OP. I am not able to explore other options right now. I don't know how it was contracted. However, he is having severe breathing issues and every cough sounds like he is about to vomit. I know people do not like the masks but perhaps until this variant has made its way through, we should keep them on. Although people are saying this variant is mild, it is really contagious so if your daycare has policies in place about quarantining and testing, many parents could be out of work for a bit of time if it runs through the household. So, in order to avoid it maybe keep the previous practices in place. |
You do realize that you can have symptoms of COVID FOR DAYS before you are diagnosed, right? You can have symptoms one week and then test positive the next week. This really isn't that hard but thanks for being so sympathetic. |
I'm so sorry you're going through this. But it is not up to you to dictate what public health measures we need to put/keep in place. Sometimes kids get sick and it sucks. I hope yours gets better soon. |
You have a choice to keep your kids home or hire a nanny. |
