I don't know if I have a cold or covid as the home tests are negative but I've been really sick for over a week as my child has been. Its been miserable. I have at least another few days to a week to go... can I thank you for this?

I don’t understand if you’re OP or someone else but why haven’t you gotten a PCR if you think you have covid?

Not op and I am to sick to go out for a prc and getting the test makes no difference. We are extremely careful and still got something.

I don't knoww what people thought would happen after locking themselves away for two years then going back out into the world of germs with immune systems completely unprepared. Lots and lots of bugs that are not COVID going around right now.

+1 this
I had a yucky cold last week, bad cough, not COVID. Felt just like I did in January 2020 during DDs first winter at daycare

Sorry this happened, OP. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for you son and the rest of your family to stay safe.

Or maybe you didn’t notice because you’re a careless parent.

Only fools are testing for covid.

Or maybe they never had symptoms for the parent to notice.

Anonymous wrote:Sorry your kid is sick! But...how can we be careful? My work policy is have childcare or take leave. Not a lot of room to maneuver there.

Fully vaccinated masked nanny is the safest. Or a fully outdoors preschool. But do what you want and just don't say we didn't warn you.

Plus going out for the test means you could spread Covid to others. Everyone always forgets this but testing place are still the most high-risk for Covid transmission.

This is OP. Surprised to get these responses. My son has been horrifically ill to the point of hospitalization, with no pre-existing conditions. I hope to God that you don't have to deal with what our family has had to over the past two weeks.

I thought he just got covid? How has he been hospitalized already and sick for 2 weeks?

There is no way on Earth that a child can be in daycare without getting Covid. It’s no surprise OP’s child has it.

+1 OP you have given sparse and seemingly conflicting details. If you want sympathy, tell us what is worrying you. If you want people to "be careful" well guess what, we have been hearing that ad nauseum for two years and have all figured out the choices we want to make. For those that think daycare is far too dangerous, well they already got a nanny. The rest of us have either been fine (my child has never been quarantined due to an exposure at daycare, has tested numerous times when she had cold symptoms and never tested positive) or are trudging along with endless quarantines. Please don't tell us what to do, that's for the public health authorities. As incompetent as they are they are more competent than you.
