+1 Anytime a school system is focused on denying students the services they need rather than what they need to do to provide students an education, the school system is failing to put students first. Dr. McKnight already knows of Letters of Findings that lay out serious violations in MCPS schools. Yet the MCPS response is to not provide the accommodations and services students need. That is not putting students first in any sense of that the slogan implies. |

Yes, you would. |

So to be clear, folks here problem with Dr. McKnight is that she should have done MORE as an INTERIM superintendent, and now after being named superintendent she is holding further meetings to hear from the community BEFORE she officially takes on her job and noted up front that there would be additional meetings held in the future and a virtual option made available???
Got it. Your mad that she can’t snap her fingers and make all problems disappear instantaneously. |
Different poster, but Yes I do think you would complain. Her job is not to educate, that is the job of teachers, and part of the mission of the school district. Her job is to strategize and manage the district in such a way as to allow it to achieve that mission. As for the qualified teacher, staff, bus driver gap, I guess you missed the part where this was not unique to MCPS? And when you speak of McKnights replacement to whom are you referring since McKnight doesn’t even officially start the job as Superintendent until this coming July? |
Regarding your compliance about psychologists, the psych at my school is complaining that MCPS doesn’t offer equal pay as the private sector. That means there are not enough psychs and the ones we have are vastly overburdened. This worsens the image for psychs that MCPS is not good to work for. They are pleading with the board to increase pay immediately. They have only been able to hire a few so far. |
Since when has Gov’t ever paid as good as the private sector??Everyone knows that Gov’t and Nonprofits don’t pay as well as the private sector. |
And it's amazing how much damage she's done to MCPS before officially starting!!!! Maybe we can call in the National Guard to help recruit more teachers and bus drivers? |
If the recruiters are doing a bad job they should be fired. She should not be doing their job. |
Its obvious you just don’t like her and nothing she does would ever be enough. Your prior statement proves that. |
It’s not about liking her or not. It’s about her being effective at her job. You seem to think she can do nothing wrong. Going to visit a college with less than 50 education bachelor’s degree graduates is not a good use of her time given it would be at least a three day trip. Of those, how many do you think would be hired here. |
I'm also glad to hear she puts our children first. I'm really impressed by Dr. McKnight. |
I have to disagree. It is far more inspirational to have the person in charge take an interest than some generic recruiter and also has a much better chance of working. |
Then fire the recruiter that is on the MCPS payroll but moved to Atlanta, GA during the pandemic |
+1000, much agreed. Management 101. |
