+ 1. Don’t feel comfortable being inside with no masks and hundreds of other people.

I think if input is what MCPS wants, a virtual option for parent participation is a pretty simple solution.

MCPS has a predetermined agenda and just wants the photo for their press releases. No one who runs MCPS really cares about students. Their spending priorities makes that crystal clear.

I have the exact opposite experience. MCPS is all about students. That's their top priority. I don't know where you would get these crazy ideas. Why would they be against students? You people are cray-cray.

It is true that "kids were held in school." There was a lockdown. After a shooting in the building. But they were not being held "to wait for a press conference."

Separately, it is also true that a press conference, which was at a different school, was delayed because Dr. McKnight was stuck in traffic and needed a police escort.

Source?

Fact. It takes a long time to get from your home in Bowie to Montgomery County at rush hour when you didn't bother to leave immediately during a crisis. There was no reason for McKnight to be in traffic or arrive late if she had already been in Montgomery County during the 7 hour crisis.

Yeah, because Montgomery County is well-known for never having any traffic.

She was in PG.

Who cares where she lives. That’s not important. Her performance is. She she be in the office during business hours.

Then you care because she wasn’t in the office during business hours.

It does not matter where she lives in pg or moco. It matters that she was home vs in the office during business hours.

Yes, because you're her boss and she answers to you, right?

Its called being a professional. If the expectation is all staff are in person, so should she.

That wasn't the expectation in January.

What are you talking about? Schools have been in person for over a year now! As soon as they opened last school year in March, she should be expected to be in the office every day that she's not in meetings or other engagements. She should not be at home during the school day. She is in a professional job running a large school system not a low level employee.

As a professional running a large school system, she is able to make her own decisions about whether to work from her office, her home, or anywhere else on any given day. You're not her boss.

Expectations and privileges differ based on ones job. Ask anyone in customer service vs a CEO.

I don't care where she works. But can we all agree that she is not listening to teachers and the community if her first priority is adding 4 ce3ntral office employees? That's what I care about.

Agree. She's done a few good things like bring back the SEO's or what ever they are called and the free tutoring program is great but outside that it really is school specific depending on the principal. But, she's not putting students or staff first.

Are they being added or is a restructuring?

Both.

She is adding 4 new central office positions while also restructuring central office employees.

It seems like she should have worked on restructuring first and not announced adding new position. There’s no way that MCEA or the principal’s union are going to be quiet on this one- nor should they. It’s the wrong direction for the county.

MCEA has already commented in Bethesda Beat:
