+1 It’s disingenuous to pretend everyone who crosses the border claims asylum to get into the country. |
| What is the end game? Do we just bus them around the country until they stop coming? A few years ago I was traveling throughout Central America and all of those countries a passport. At our Port of entry to Brasilia there was one Canadian who was turned around because their valid visa did not have over thirty days left on it after their anticipated departure. Are these people showing up with visas? Why did the Canadian get put on the next flight back to Canada because of three days of overlap yet you can simply cross into Texas. |

Most European countries have a passive form of enforcement in the form of a national ID.
E.g, in Germany, without a national ID, one cannot - rent an apartment enroll child for school apply for a job buy train ticket open bank account vote These are just the ones I can think of right now, I'm sure there are more prohibitions. For this reason illegal migration into Germany is not really viable. In China years ago I me some folks who said that it's easy to get into America. As a Chinese person myself, I was getting unvarnished insider opinion. A lot of people world over treat America's borders as a revolving door. |
Yes, I work in the middle east frequently. You cannot buy a mobile phone or get cable installed without a national ID number assigned by immigration. No car, no utility hook ups, no internet access outside of hotels. The US is the ONLY country in the world that does not think that borders mean anything. Try working in the UK without appropriate documentation, or France. |
Not in our backyard, right OP? |
The size of a state does not matter. The amount of habitable land does. Which is why these people congregate and overcrowd areas of wherever they end up - they go where the resources are. |
We CAN secure a large portion of our border, which allows agents to concentrate in those areas that are harder to secure. We can also put pressure on Mexico to stop them on their side of the border. And prosecute groups like La Frontera who aid and abet illegal immigrants. If nothing else, leftists and liberals, who claim to be so compassionate, should want to to do this given the abuses women and girls suffer to get here. Funny how these abuses are ignored. It's almost like liberals and leftist are picking and choosing their outrage. |
Do you honestly believe these are the only immigrants coming over? Really?? |
They afforded due process on that claim by the Constitution. |
IT’S BECAUSE OF LAWS. We go by the law! You’re allowed to come here and apply for asylum. You’re allowed to stay, according to our laws, and have your claim heard. You might be denied and deported or you might be granted legal status. So the reason the person from Canada was turned away and the reason these people in buses are here is the same reason - the Border agents are following the law. The laws can be changed, so can the Constitution. But this isn’t about “illegal immigration” because it’s not illegal. |
This isn’t at all relevant to the people on the buses because they’ve already been processed and released by our immigration authorities. They’re not undocumented. |
Abbott is referring to them as “illegal” even though he’s acknowledging that the people on the buses have been processed and released by the feds, presumably to wait for a court date. “Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to charter buses and flights that would send to Washington willing migrants who've been processed and released from federal custody, his office said. "To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden Administration to Washington, DC," Abbott said during a news conference Wednesday along the US-Mexico border in Weslaco, Texas.” |
The people on the buses are just going to be walking across the bridges to border crossings so I don’t see how this is relevant. They’ve already been in federal custody. They’re not sneaking anywhere. |
I'm not talking just about the buses

| Immigration is the big loser for Democrats. For some reason Democrats vastly overestimate support for illegal border crossings as well as a very flawed, and gamed, asylum program. Trump literally won due to Democrat mishandling of the border and democrats are now looking to lose the midterms and next presidential election despite rising wages and good economy. |
