Not really, no. Immigration issues in that area predate all our recent Presidents, since it's fundamentally a economic imbalance problem. Remember Mexicans stealing parts of Trump's wall for their own homes? That was pretty embarrassing. Mexico-US migration has always been fraught.

Maybe, but with Biden allowing this provision to expire, it's about to get much worse.

Well, the restaurant owners I know will be happy, they can’t find anyone to work in the kitchen.
The crab industry will be happy, they need pickers.
The agricultural industry will be happy, they need people too.

I don’t think this will be an issue. If these are migrants who aren’t being deported, then they’re being released pending a hearing or something. They will go wherever they were planning to go - probably to stay with family or try to find work. We have local nonprofits who can help. Others will just continue on to where they were going including back to Texas if that was their plan. The buses are just a silly stunt.

I would also point out that the term “illegal immigrant” is totally inappropriate here. It’s a lie by Republicans. They’re talking about people who presented at the border and applied for asylum. That’s not illegal! They’re not even “undocumented.”

How is this a stunt. It is happening. They can get their hearings transferred to DC fairly easily,if they were planning on attending them. If they are dropped off here, why do you think they are going to turn around and head back to Texas?

Do our local immigration resources have the capacity to absorb them or do we bus them to MD and Virginia once they arrive.

Nobody said illegal. You inserted that to color this conversation even more politically. I think people were just having a discussion and you are charging it with loaded terms that hurt people's feelings.
