There's no evidence to support this. People seem to be happy with the exception of a few far-right posters that like to stir up trouble.

Ya the same poster keeps starting these doom and gloom threads. I think they have a political agenda, but the reality is my kids are getting a much better education than I got 25 years ago at Wooton.

Seems you should be able to spell it if you did indeed go there.

Well, despite the drop in enrollment. That's evidence that people are leaving MCPS. But I can't see if it was wealthy people that left

As someone who moved in the last five years let me see if I can answer this… because the families in FCPS and Loudon are complaining on DCUM just as much as MCPS folks, prices in real estate there(at least the part that could be considered DMV area) are higher than many places in MoCo. Oh, FCPS is getting a new Super this year, Fairfax city’s current Super just announced her retirement and the zone is small. Arlington zone is really small, and most don’t want to be in APS unless they are sending there kid to private for middle and high. They play the same game and politics of best feeder area and boundaries just like MoCo.

The grass isn’t actually greener it just appears that way.

Didn’t MCPS release numbers last year that showed numbers were down?
No one seems happy with the MAP scores that were released (at least they shouldn’t be)

I’m all for a debate of whether MCPS can pull things back together, but to say it’s just a bunch of whiny parents is sticking your head in the sand.

She didn't. She said it was one whiny parent with a right wing agenda.

I agree.

But I wanted to thank you, whiny parent with a right wing agenda. You provide me with literally hours of free entertainment. And you're great for my writer's block. Say something more dumb again. Come on! Ya know you want (have?) To do it?

We are recently told that there won't be any kid moving school zone at Rachel Carson ES, and all portables would be removed (kids move back in building) because we are under capacity now. I wonder where those kids move to, private school or different ES/school district?

The at a glance still shows way over capacity? https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/regulatoryaccountability/glance/currentyear/schools/02159.pdf

where is the evidence to support that "People seem to be happy"?

More than likely, the vast majority have no choice but public schools. Even if they could send their kids to private, there isn't enough room for all 160K kids in MCPS.

It’s not one whiny parent. You just hurl insults with nothing to back it up. Again, I’m up for a civilized debate if you need to practice your writing skills. MCPS numbers literally show enrollment is down. It’s impossible to tell whether those people who left are wealthy or not.

Apologies. Civilized people are so bougie.

The person who said there are similar complaints in the VA school threads is the wisest one in our virtual room.

Actually leaving Moco does = leaving MCPS

The birth rate declined in 2008-2013 nationwide. There was a natural decline in babies being born, also less people are getting married and having kids.

That doesn’t mean they are leaving MCPS.

I mean the actual title of the thread is leaving MCPS for private….and this is your response?
I switched my kids to private but guess what? We still need a house.
