And the article says :
Enrollment decreases over the past two years are not unique to MCPS.

Recent research from the Brookings Institute showed that public school enrollment has decreased nationwide, largely in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. An NPR poll of 60 districts across the country showed an average enrollment drop of 16% in kindergarten.

If you read the article, you would learn that the only grades where MCPS is not losing students is K and 9th. So your point is totally irrelevant.

Parents are enrolling new students at the traditional entry points. However, at all other grades kids are leaving the system which is new and unique to MCPS.

I mean what are most people going to do? In America the schools are tied to your home. Not too many folks can then drop 50,000 a year on K-8. We did catholic though and Biden payments paid for the tuition - kid never missed a beat. They stayed open. So for our family we took federal funds and used them for tuition - the way it should be every year. But I think it’s coming…in a way COVID closures will have a silver lining. A bloated, corrupt outfit like MCPS will end pretty much wherever there is more diverse political thought.

You would hope! Unfortunately, we just keep throwing more money at a corrupt, abysmal school system. Not really any alternatives in this county.

+1 vote out the incumbents on the board

I'm totally voting for the incumbents. They've done such a great job keeping us safe during this difficult time and ensuring that kids who wanted to learn still had that opportunity.

Our W feeder is underpowered and well we think it's wonderful. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but also some people just like to complain.

If you have the ability to give your kids smaller classes, better facilities and fewer weirdos —where Money is not an issue, why not?

Ya sounds like MCPS has it all as far as their concerned and why pay tens of thousands to some private which by and large does worse.

+1 privates are mainly for parents who want the school to kowtow to their whims if it were about quality of education they'd stick with MCPS

That's great news! This should help address the overcrowding issues since enrollment has grown so much these past few years.
