Sandwich game-changer

I was going to suggest fig jam! So good with cheddar.

Kim chi is the cousin to sauerkraut so I feel like it’s a natural addition to sandwiches.
I’ll even do salsa if the sandwich is something like a burger—pico de gallo on a burger or veggie burger is great. And I put guac on sandwiches all the time.

That sounds good! And I typically wouldn’t use ham

Pepper jam or any other kinds of savory jams are also awesome!

Anonymous wrote:While waiting for my number to be called at the deli I randomly saw this jar of boar's head "sweet vidalia onions in sauce." Low calorie and low sodium, so I figured why not. It is absolutely fantastic on a sandwich. And then this week I bought a different brand's "onion jam," which lacks the chunks of onion that boar's head has, but similar concept and flavor. It is also fantastic. If your family is sort of bored by deli sandwiches, even when using bakery bread, high-quality meats and cheeses, I highly recommend grabbing a jar of onions. They're only like 5 bucks. I personally can't stand raw onions on a sandwich, too overpowering, but love the depth these products add.

Sorry if I'm way late on this. It's possible this stuff has been popular for years.

I have tried both. I think I like the Boar's Head better, it's sweeter and has a cleaner flavor. And I think I like the texture of the bigger pieces of (cooked) sweet onion, while onion jam doesn't really have much texture. But both are good.

sacre bleu.. mais non. this is as terrible as cheese on kimchee. What are people doing to kimchee!?!!

They are putting it on sandwiches. I thought the PP was clear?

I heart you, PP.

I only go to Chik-Fil-A for the sauce. I buy an order of fries and always ask for extra sauce.

It is low-brow because it's all junk oil & corn syrup.

Thanks for the recipe, PP. I am going to whip up some right now.

I’m addicted to Trader Joe’s zhoug sauce. Think of a spicy chimichurri made from cilantro. So good on sandwiches and just about anything. Also good for sandwiches: basil pesto. Also good, red cabbage slaw.

Pesto is very underrated on sandwiches.

My 9 year old is vegetarian and absolutely loves a sandwich of avocado, pesto aioli (or mayo / basil leaves), arugula, and red onion. I’m going to have to try onion jam as an alternative to chopping onions in the mornings.

I’ve been sautéing spinach in olive oil to sneak veggies into my kids’ sandwiches. They don’t even really notice — and when it’s cooked down you can fit a dense full serving in a sandwich, which they’d never eat if it was raw.

Don't waste your coins at WS

But then WS poster would have nothing to brag about.

The onion jam at Willams Sonoma is on sale for $13, according to google. But I haven't tried it. This onion jam was gross; tasted harsh, like raw onion:

Honeycup Uniquely Sharp Mustard

Trader Joe's Jalapeno Sauce (spicy but sooo yummy!)

Cheese and kimchi are delicious together. Kimchi ham fried rice with chunks of sharp cheddar melted in... oooooh.

+1

Koreans add cheese to any number of dishes, like tteokbokki or K-ramen, both of which taste awesome with kimchi. It’s a completely delicious combination.
