Does a small envelope mean a rejection?

Either the school personalized a mean rejection letter, in which case WT_, or this was a poorly written form letter, in which case you shouldn't take it personally. Actually, having been in your shoes, it really doesn't matter how they decided or what they say. People on this board go on and on about hooks, taken spots, etc., but that's the game we play by applying, and regardless of why, the school desired somebody more than your (or my) kid, and that sucks. But, really, don't give it more thought because you will move on, and it certainly sounds like it wasn't the right school for your family.

I think UPS and Fedex have similar notification schemes, assuming some schools used those methods instead of USPS.

Informed Delivery is usually updated way before 9am so looks like we're out of luck.

Thanks for sharing and I'm sorry to hear this experience for your family. You may want to share this school at some point so folks are warned so have enough options to choose from - it's incredible the hubris these school officials have.

A lot of schools just send large envelopes, so it would just say “there is a package that we do not have an image for.” That is because they are too large to be scanned by the standard machines.

No! I don't know where you applied but not all schools time mailings to arrive by today.

Sidwell last year NEVER sent anything to accepted students. STA mailed an acceptance package to arrive Mon/Tues.

Just signed up for the informed delivery and it shows no packages and no mail for today (or any prior day this week). Could be wrong, but if it’s instantaneous, given the volume of mail we receive on a daily basis, receiving nothing in the mail today would be a nearly impossible statistical anomaly.

I agree with that. USPS sometimes even puts something on the email to the effect of “there are mail items arriving that are not shown here.” And certainly most of our packages do not show up there.

They are all difficult admits. All schools issue more rejections than acceptances.
