| Kate McKinnon as a teenager? lol, no. Amanda can still pull it off. Not for much longer, but for now. |
? You can see Amanda’s dimples in every scene |
| Girl’s got two podcasts, a feature length film, a documentary, a limited series, several network specials, books. It’s insane. She is the definition of girlbossing too close to the sun. |
| Wait, why does her voice change? |
Because the real Elizabeth Holmes put on the deep voice, to sound more masculine and commanding I guess. She slipped in and out of it in real life too. |
She’s trying to emulate Steve Jobs (black turtleneck always) and be taken seriously (voice change). On the many documentaries, many many people mentioned how weird it was. |
| I am loving this series! It is unbelievable to me that she and Sunny got away with so much for so long! Amanda Seyfried is fantastic in this roll. |
Agree. |
| Did the Walgreens guys really sing a song about blood? I was cringing so hard at this week’s episode. When all the episodes have aired, I’d love to see one comprehensive breakdown of what was real and what was made up for the show. It’s astounding how the lies went on for so long. |
I love Amanda Seyfried. She was incredible as Cosette in Les Mis. Why are there so many shows right now about con artists? This show, Inventing Anna, Tinder Swindler etc. |
| I don't think the HBO doc mentioned that Elizabeth met Sunny when she was a teenager who hadn't started college yet. That aspect of it is so interesting to me. |
I didn't listen to the podcast, but the Bad Blood book explains it really well. I mean, I agree it is totally astounding, but in some ways, it makes total sense. It was definitely timing - huge economic uncertainty combined with the recent billion dollar startups that people felt they missed out on. Many people were like I'm not going to miss out, I'm going to give them time and money and we'll all make a ton when this gets sorted out. She and Sonny definitely played people well - pitting the retail pharmacy leaders against each other was a genius move. The more high profile people got involved the easier it was to bring more people in. But yea, this wasn't driving people around in cars like Uber or letting people chat online like Twitter....so is crazy that people let a freaking medical device go this far. |
+1 At first, I wasn't sold on the show, but now 4 episodes in, I can't wait for the next one to come out. At first, I was bothered by how tiny Amanda Seyfried is, compared to how imposing Elizabeth Holmes always appeared. But Seyfried captures Holmes perfectly. My only complaint is that Naveen Andrews is still hot, even though they tried to make him paunchy and socially awkward as Sunny. Oh well. |

This series is soft and weak
Inventing Anna is far more better and riveting |
