John Mulaney is hosting SNL - but no Pete Davidson

His delivery is fantastic. That Monkey Judge skit almost certainly wouldn't have worked well with a different host.

They’ve had a version of the churros in the subway sketch every time he has hosted. The first one was lobster in the diner and is one of the best sketches in recent memory IMO. This one was more NYC specific that the others.

Nobody I know in real life watches this show. Nobody. It's totally irrelevant.

Aren't you special? Having no sense of humor is nothing to brag about.

And, OP-- a simple Google search would have shown you that Pete D is filming a movie, as others have written.

Are you in your twenties or early thirties by chance? My family was watching the latest episode last night (recorded because we're old.) The kids are teenagers and seem to enjoy watching it. It kind of came up, for my wife and I, how we watched the show in our teens, then went through a period in our twenties and early thirties where we didn't watch anymore. Then we picked up the habit again. It could have been the cast and the quality during those years, but I think it had as much to do with the time in your life. College and early adulthood, you're mostly out having fun during the times when you might be watching SNL. Then when you have little kids, there's no real time. I don't know how common it is to pick the habit back up later like my wife & I did.

+1

Yes, this is the truth.
He is filming a new movie (guess his star is on the ascent now!)
I seriously doubt Ye has the power to scare Davidson (a main character!) out of appearing on a show.
Kanye is all talk - Pete has nothing to be afraid of when it comes to Ye.
……………………..

Ever since John left his wife for Olivia Munn, I have disliked him immensely.
I disagree w/the poster who stated that Pete is unfunny.
Not only is he 200% more hilarious than John > but he is way more easier on the eyes than him.
Yes, he may do crazy stuff but he is young + living his life.
His career is lit now.
I get the feeling that we will all hear great things from him for a very long time.

I am married (STB divorced) to someone whom EVERYONE loves. I know that I am being crucified behind my back for leaving my DH. On the surface, everyone sees someone who is present, consistent, nice, great-to-talk to, charming, who appears to be a great father.

It's what they don't see that's the issue. No one knows the actual dynamic between John Mulaney and Anna/e Marie Tendler. I say this as someone who struggled for years about whether or not to leave my DH. When I shared my private struggle with a few close friends and my therapist, the question that I was asked... "how did you make it that long?"

The only facts that we know are that 1) John Mulaney is an addict, 2) he was in recovery, 3) he divorced his seemingly patient and loving wife, 4) he had a kid with a GF, 5) he is touring again.

No one knows WHY he did (or is doing) any of that.

Ask any married woman with kids under the age of 50 with about John Mulaney. You will see the daggers appear in their eyes.

He is not liked as a person. Viscerally.

Lorne probably doesn’t want the drama. Maybe he’s gotten too big for his britches and is being a pain to work with. ??

I am in the demographic you mentioned and I neither like or dislike him.

I am wondering why he used his infant son in the SNL promo pics. That seems like a cheap ploy for sympathy. Really pathetic.
