I normally really enjoy Mulaney's standup but I found last night's episode very so-so. Some funny moments but nothing that really stood out. A lot of it felt like a rehash of stuff he's done before, but less funny. And I really dislike when they go hard on the "lots of celebrity cameos" stuff like they did with the 5-timers club. It's cheap and not actually entertaining. Like "Conan O'Brien walks in" is not actually a joke and is only funny if you are the sort of simpleton who is really entertained by "Oh my gosh that's Conan O'Brien! Haha he's said funny things in the past so I'll laugh reflexively now!" Like it's cheap and boring.
Even his monologue was a lot of rehashing of jokes he's told recently on other TV appearances. My favorite SNL moment of this season is when Peyton Manning did that "Emily in Paris" thing on Update. That was hilarious. Otherwise it's been pretty mediocre. |

| Last nights show was hilarious. Hate John for her personal choices all you like but his monologue was one of the funniest in a long time. I loved the musical number and the Robinson Family Reunion too. |
