Now that CDC is not recommending masks in schools, will private schools lift their mandates?

With Younkin it is a flat out no until the state passed law to support what he said. There was a whole temper tantrum on that. Again read all the posts on this. I have watched as an outsider, and I don't like this. This feels very political and not scientific. I predict that even with the CDC news there will still be resistance. My kids are older and can deal with the masks but for little kids, if I was a little kid parent, I would be upset. The foggy glasses, the anxiety. For every kid who says no problem, there are five who have trouble with the masks. Time to support kids.

I don't want to get into the debate about whether a HS student should wear a mask.
As a parent who has a DC in PK4 -- what is frustrating is that the CDC is issuing this change without providing the access to vaccine for little kids. I get it, some will say the risk of death is small for kids. But hey 1000+ kids died and I watched my neighbor's otherwise healthy 3-yr old sent to hospital by ambulance on Christmas.

Yes it is. Speak for yourself

Would someone who knows please clarify the DC situation- are private schools bound by the mayors order or not? At the start of the pandemic they were except from the social distance 6’ mandate. Still the case?

I don’t think we can all cater to your special needs whether it’s that you want to get into folks’ personal space, can’t wear a mask (hahaha) or are a trucker-fascist

You’ll do as told or change the school

NP. Please not assume people that want to get rid of masks that aren’t scientifically proving to be needed are RWNJs. It’s thinking like that that will caring upon a red wave. Some of us Dems have logic and aren’t led by hysteria.

What does being a particular political party supporter have to do with it? Either which way you vote?

Because these are not real threads. They are either started by trolls or moms seduced by a political agenda. Why?

1. Private schools have been proactive. Mask mandates will be lifted. So why get your knickers tied up in a twist in several threads per week just before that happens. So you can say we won, prevailed. Nah, ya didn’t
2. You have no empathy. We wear masks for those too young to get vaccinated or those that are at risk. It’s part of being a community member. Inability to be a decent human strongly aligned with certain voting patterns. So, ya did
3. If you are a genuine dcum freaking out over this, maybe don’t drink or hate quite so much

They are real threads. I didn’t post this one but I have posted a similar one. It doesn’t seem like you are a parent of a child (private school or otherwise) and so you don’t seem to be able to grasp that moms and dads can care very much about covid and not spreading and being vaccinated and ALSO want our kids to be able to be mask free as soon as possible. And apparently the CDC agrees that it is time to unmask or getting close to that time. Please take your unhelpful and intentionally divisive and inflammatory garbage elsewhere.

You're correct. Starting Monday, we will reach out to the school(s) to start working with them to change to a mask optional policy. My question is if there needs to be a different approach for DC schools, who are still, in theory, under the DC Dept of Health mandate. VA and MD schools should be no problem to change at this point.

Who is this person who thinks she is the lord of private schools. Is it the same person as above who speaks as if she is the Royal “we” telling everyone else what to do. I am a private school parent of young children and of course I will do as my school days while also advocating for end to masking of young children. I don’t have to do whatever you say because you are no more powerful than I am.

She's a troll who gets the giggles every time there is a response to one of her repetitive posts. Just ignore.

Under 5 COVID deaths are not too dissimilar from Flu deaths for same age range and that’s not accounting for under 5 has access to a flu shot. I have an under 5 year old. We have to get to the point where we accept that this is another scary thing in the world (car accidents, drowning, drive by shootings) and pray that our children are spared. We can’t ask the entire country to mask just like we can’t ask an entire country to close all pools to prevent child drownings. Also, your under 5 year old can wear a KN95 mask.

Yes, it’s the same crazy lady in every mask thread. She talks about losers, fascists, housewives, wine, truckers, and tells people they’ll do as they’re told. It’s really quite fascinating to watch.

No idea what school you go to, but ours will lift when normal people are ready.
