How many do? How many don't? |
| What is the alternative? We have removed them and put in RJ/no consequences and look what happened. |
Who decides, based on what premise, that a kid gets kicked out? And, kicked out, what happens then? |
+1 Look at the states I (OP) posted in the past 4 months alone. This is why MCPS had to take a look at CEOs or SROs again in our schools. Most people agree that the pandemic caused a lot of mental health issues, including in youths. This coupled with RJ, no SROs, no consequences, staff hands are tied = uptick in violence. |
DP, obviously MCPS leadership has to make the call. They can bring back the alternative schools. Personally, I think kids 16+ who have numerous behaviorial issues should be sent to some type of military school paid for by the taxpayers. They get discipline and learn a trade. |
Still has nothing to do with SROs. |
? they are bringing in CEOs rather than SROs, but these are still cops. |
don't know since they never polled the parents (did they?) |
I just don't see the need for these unnecessary expenses. |
She's got my vote! |
But they don’t deal with delinquents. They deal with violent students. Cops dealing with violent offenders is appropriate. Cops dealing with non-violent students is nit appropriate. Glad the new model will keep cops away from non- violent children. They are not dealing with discipline they are dealing with violent criminals. |
Who decides: the same people who decide special needs placement Sent where: to the same schools they used to have for behavior issues. |
Doubt you have a child in mcps this year. |
| How about we need to force parents to attend school with their kids when their kids are having behavior problems to let the parents deal with it? |
Right, its better to have students die. Funeral costs are cheaper. |
