Even if he wasn't a high school kid, the response was a personal attack on a citizen because he retweeted a news story with his commentary on it. The fact that the REPORTER (not the kid) later issued a correction is irrelevant.

The fact that Youngkin's team felt that the appropriate reaction to a citizen with an opinion is to attack them personally is the problem here. And this was the Governor's official email account.

The good news is that voters probably won't stay home again and this will be the end of the red resurgence in VA.

A 100% exactly this. Holy cow.

What the heck?

How did they get the photo of the kid with Northam? It's not his twitter profile pic?

Did they look on his account and start going through all his photos or something?

The whole thing is pretty creepy.

Pretty sure that's exactly what they did.

This kid is an intern for the Democrat Party in VA. His twitter feed is full of political tweets. He is co-chair of a VA teens organization, which he appears to have founded.

He is a senior in HS. They *say* he is 17, but who knows for sure?

If he doesn't want to be challenged, he shouldn't be on Twitter. Given his involvement with the Democrats.... he's a big boy and should be able to take the "heat." Instead, he plays the victim. Typical.

Tell me - how is posting a pic of him next to Northam, then pointing out that Northam wore blackface an attack on him?

Good question. He is interning with the Democrats in VA:

Ethan Lynne
@ethanclynne
Virginian. HS Senior. Democrat. || Now:
@vasenate
intern &
@vateendems
|| Former:
@terrymcauliffe
,
@vademocrats
x3 &
@JoeBiden
|| Views Are Mine

So, while this is technically a kid, he is tweeting for the Democrats in VA. And, even though he says, "Views are mine," his twitter feed is all political and in support of anything associated with the Dem Party. And, when someone calls him out for one of his tweets, he claims that he is being attacked....So, in essence, the Democratic Party is more than happy to have him tweet on behalf of their causes, but cry foul when he is called out and accuse others of attacking him.

This appears to be the tweet that got attention because it is at least, in part, false:

This still doesn't excuse them attacking him. He is 17, and he is using his own account. Doesn't Youngkin have a son the same age? I wonder how he would feel if someone did this to his son.

As I recall, Youngkin was rather unhappy about people commenting on his 17yo son trying to vote illegally. But I guess he thinks other 17 yos are fair game.

and heckling kids trying to walk in to school with masks on. They are disgusting. Not only did they heckle the kid at the school board meeting, when the chairman of the lcps school board asked the crowd not to heckle the student and mentioned how it was inappropriate you can see several of the crazies shaking their heads as if possessed. They live for the chance to be angry and scream. If the student was 8 they would have done the same.

He is one of Youngkin’s constituents, whether he supports Youngkin or not. Regardless of his age, it is not even remotely appropriate for Youngkin to make an ad hominem personal attack on a constituent for retweeting and commenting on a news article written by someone else. Dear lord, how much have we lost any sense of civility that this is something to at even needs to be explained?

This kid is more politically active than probably 95% of the people on this site.

Don't kid yourself..... He is LOVING this attention.

The exact same can be said of Youngkin’s thin skinned staffer who felt compelled to lash out at a constituent on Twitter because he couldn’t handle the kid’s tweet.

Difference is Youngkin's staffer is claiming victimhood.

What is false? According to whom?

And, I have to add..... the position they are talking about has been around a whopping 5 years. It was created in 2016, so we are not talking about a decades old position.

NP. So wait - this story wasn't even true? And the Dems here were braying about how outrageous it was - before getting all the facts? Why do Democrats continue to do this, over and over and over again? And also - where's your apology, Dems?

DP. Beat me to it. Notice how the kid retweeted false information (didn't bother to make sure it was true first), and then added his virtuous, "Shameful" comment at the end? Ugh. He's loving the sanctimony. My question is, when will he stop playing the victim and admit that HE made a mistake and attacked the Youngkins first? My guess - not happening.

I think you mean Youngkin's staffer ISN'T claiming victimhood. Which is true.

Amazing that this "kid" spends time attacking the Youngkins, and then whines that he's being "bullied" in response. What a typical Democrat. Happy to dish it out, but cries foul when it's returned in kind.
