It’s if no concern. These positions answer to the AG. Just like with any other type of “at will” position to the AG, the AG gets to clean house and replace with like-minded individuals. The Dems do the same when they take office. Same thing happens at the federal level when a new party comes into power.

It is absolutely a cause for concern. This administration has already shown their willingness to completely overreach, so there is every reason to be concerned that they will try to interfere with Virginia’s public universities in other inappropriate ways, such as trying to dictate course curriculum.

I did not deny it was within his rights. I denied (in other posts) that firing counsel to state universities is in any way a typical part of the transition process for incoming state AGs. These positions are typically held by career professionals and not political appointees, so firing them as part of a change in administration is highly unusual.

As a previous poster mentioned this does not happen every time there is a new administration. These are usually career appointments. UVA made it clear in their comment that this was not their choice.
