https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/23/us/politics/jan-6-investigator-fired-university-of-virginia.html This is straight from the top of Youngkin's admin. Youngkin is fully in on covering up Trump's crimes, and helping Trump get away with the first coup attempt in the 200+ year history of American democracy. Republicans are extremists, and Trumpers, and anyone who hopes to get elected in the GOP has to embrace the lies, corruption, criminality, and authoritarianism. No matter how much Republicans lie about what they stand for. |
Younkin may support this, but AG is independent. |
Of course the NYT does it's normal bothsides thing, refusing to say explicitly what is going on.
But other than the NYT refusing to cast the truth as the truth, instead falling back on the old "Democrats say" frame, the headline isn't terrible. Youngkin and his handpicked AG are trying to protect Trump by retaliating against people trying to uphold the rule of law. |
|
Yes, the AG is independently elected, but they have been in lockstep, during the campaign and after.

Fascism begins at the state level.
Way to go purple VA voters! (sarcasm) |
| Welcome to Texas, y’all. Or Gilead. Under his eye. |

While Miyares does have the authority to fire him, the position he held is typically a career rather than appointed position, and decisions about hirings and firings are usually left to the colleges and universities without interference from the state AG.
UVA is giving no cover to Miyares here: “University leaders are grateful to Tim for his outstanding service to our community and disappointed to see it come to an end. If you have further questions about this matter, I would check with the attorney general’s office, as this was their decision to make.” |
They lie about everything. They are The Party of Liars. |
LOL well that was completely upfront and clear - they are mad. Feel a little bad for UVA - being stuck in Charlottesville and acting as a lightning rod for supremacy marchers must be frustrating. |
Yup. Disgusting. |
Lol sure |
They stand for desperation as they seem extremely concerned ( with good reason) that they can't get enough voters to win without cheating. |
How so? The attorney can now spend 100% of his time working on 1/6. |
Stop trying to stir the pot; I’m sure you’re not really that dense. |
