This post is satire, right ? |
No, it's a serious question. Can you give a serious answer that *specifically* addresses the question, for example show some campaign platform item, polling, legislation, referendums, ANYTHING that specifically says Dems think gun crimes should not be prosecuted or just be a slap in the wrist? |
Seattle A Seattle-area prosecutor was slammed over a recent presentation to law enforcement officials in which he insisted police should "get used to" the district attorney's office allowing juvenile suspects – even those accused of bringing a gun to school – to avoid jail time. Ben Carr, senior deputy prosecuting attorney for King County, made a recent Zoom presentation on "considerations for juvenile suspects." "Even for serious offenses the primary focus will be on rehabilitation," Carr wrote, adding in parentheses, "get used to this concept." The prosecutor presented a scenario where "young Timmy brings a pistol to school, brandishes it during a confrontation and causes panic," before debating whether a crime was committed, whether the juvenile court has jurisdiction in this case and what will happen to the kid "in Juvie." https://www.foxnews.com/us/seattle-area-prosecutor-juvenile-restorative-justice-program-guns-school NYC Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there’s no “genuine risk of physical harm” to anyone. Armed robbery, a class B felony, would typically be punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison, while petty larceny subjects offenders to up to 364 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. https://nypost.com/2022/01/04/manhattan-da-alvin-bragg-to-stop-seeking-prison-in-some-cases/ Philly Krasner, in the midst of a contested reelection race, said the city’s focus instead should be on other issues — the long-standing structural problems that drive people toward picking up a gun, such as underfunded schools, government neglect of impoverished neighborhoods, and a bloated justice system that has targeted poor and Black and brown residents. “If we’re all going to focus on the questionable notion that everybody who possesses a gun is spending their time looking at data on what conviction rates are, then we’re going to miss any solution that’s actually going to be real and effective,” the district attorney said. “Yes, enforcement is a small part of the story. The big part of the story is not that. The big part of the story is this city’s chronic failure to invest in prevention that the community is crying out for. That is where we have to go.” https://www.inquirer.com/news/philadelphia-gun-arrests-2021-convictions-vufa-20210330.html |
| Boom. |
These are individuals, not a party line. Try again. It doesn't answer the party-wide question that was asked. |
|
These prosecutors aren't wrong about interventions and preventions before the crimes happen. But that's work that should be up to legislators, city council and others, not prosecutors.
Where they are definitely wrong is about a slap on the wrist for the gun crimes after they happen. So there are two different things at play in that conversation. Do not conflate them, they are entirely separate concepts. |
| Again, the question was where is there polling or documentation of a national DNC agenda to ignore gun crime? |
So Democrat prosecutors from multiple 100% deep blue cities aren't an accurate representation of the Democratic Party's position? That is an interesting take. |
If you think it's an accurate representation then show some polling showing that Democrats think gun crime is OK. |

Here is my issue..... I don't doubt that there are Democrats who are opposed to the lax measures being taken by these progressive prosecutors. I am sure there are moderates out there that think the inclination to go easy on these repeat violent offenders is not good for society. The problem is that there are no prominent Democrats, in these DA's districts, or any other district, speaking up AGAINST the policies that put these violent criminals back on the street. There is no outcry from the left. As they say, silence is complicity. |
That STILL doesn't answer the specific question. Try again. |
Did any of these DA's specifically run on a platform of being lax on gun crime? Can anyone show that they did? Or was there a bait-and-switch? |
+1. Well said. And just look at San Francisco to see how having an ultra liberal DA is going. CA is a mess. |
What is funny is how desperate you are to distance your party from its policies. You know enough to know these policies are radioactive to the general public, and you know darn well which party is pushing these policies. |
